AU Mercury Dimes as FB

Can/Does PCGS certify AU Merc's as being FB?

I have a PCGS certified AU55 that I really feel is an FB, but I don't see, other than 1916, listed in Coin Facts as being graded in that manner. #40171773

Thoughts?

I mainly collect raw Ancients, PCGS Mercury Dimes, and raw CSA'S... but have misc other sets...Jeffhttps://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/set/215647https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/showcase/8378

According to the web site, https://www.pcgs.com/grades#gradeFB, it should only be MS60 and up. It could be a “mechanical error” where they labeled it FB accidentally.

The PCGS Price Guide also lists values for the 1925, 1935, 1935 D, 1942/1 and 1942/1 D in AU58 FB and shows pics of each in FB. The 1925 shows a population of 1, so it must be possible to have one graded FB. Perhaps their just isn't that many or perhaps they just started doing it. I would contact someone at PCGS...I know that's not easy these days. Your 1917 is a beautiful coin, btw.

Nice Merc dime... but at that grade, according to their site, they do not assign FB.... Though as @jesbroken pointed out... it has been so designated in the past. Query PCGS on that one... Cheers, RickO

That is a superb looking coin. It definitely is a FB to me. As stated above, I would contact PCGS to see if they can explain why it cannot get the FG attribute.
