Get vaccinated.

I was lucky to get my two Moderna shots. Anyone else get lucky?

I figure it will be the end of the summer before we even have a chance to get it.

Far from simple. The first appointments were like getting the End of World War II 75th Anniversary American Eagle Gold Coin, after the sell out. Days of checking at all hours. See an opening, by the time you try to get it, it's gone.

Those of using wanting it are mostly still waiting unless we qualify...here in Denver shipments have been delayed for obvious wintery reasons...
But I still have to wait (it's still recommended to wait once testing positive) a couple more weeks even if I could get to it...since I've had Covid fairly recently.
We're more concerned about teachers and finishing up with elderly, the frontline people have mostly gotten it
I do miss the shows, the people...all of it...but for so many of us it's still a terrifying thought to risk our lives, or especially others, for these kind of things.

To answer the OP's question - yes, in the worst way. But at 64.5 years old, I have been grouped with the 16 to 64 year old tier here in sunny California. So sadly for me, it will be awhile yet.

    Wrong.

Nothing political unless you choose to make it one.

It's an ad for vaccination. It has nothing to do with coins. Mentioning coin shows doesn't make it about coins. IMHO

Leave it to the government to make a pig's breakfast of something as simple as getting a shot. Medical facilities have been successfully administering vaccines for over one hundred years. Politicians need to leave it to the experts.

Been a year since went to a coin show. Sad times.

Was able to go to a Train & Diecast car show 2 weeks ago, 250 tables and plenty of people at the show. So why can't we have coin shows again?

The larger dealers that I do business with say they are not interested in setting up right now. They have all said the last year has been their best ever. Record sales. Coin shows are becoming obsolete.

Got my first shot two weeks ago - no side effects - and have my second shot scheduled for next Tuesday. Add in the fact that I had a mild case of the Virus in November, also. No guarantees, of course, but I will definitely head to a show (if they ever have a decent-sized one).

I think in my area I become eligible at the earliest in March or April depending upon how things go. With the J&J single shot vaccine being likely available by then I imagine my state will be using that more and the Moderna/Pfizer one for more at risk people.

We still have our monthly coin shows, though. The vast majority are masked but there are always some who refuse. Not passing judgment or commenting on that. It is simply the facts on both counts.

Got my first Pfizer shot last week - I was extremely lucky. Second shot in a couple of weeks.

Here in NC, availability is drastically different from county to county. This forces people to go elsewhere. A total FUBAR in my county.

My parents have been vaccinated (they are in their 80's). My sister and brother in law were some of the first (they are in the medical field).

My two brothers and their entire families have had covid, it was like a mild cold.

I guess I will need to wait to see if coin shows are allowed to happen.

Glad people are getting vaccinated. I’ll get mine as soon as one is available for my age.

I'm hoping enough of us can get vaccinated to enable the ANA convention, but it will likely go down to the wire. In the last month we've vaccinated only 10% of the U.S. population.

I did not like the "stipulations" required to volunteer for the shot. Besides there are others who are more deserving than I who should receive it before I do.

I do miss coin shows and the camaraderie that goes along with it though.

Whether they wear masks or not. In that situation in close quarters it would depend to me whether I felt they caused a risk for me.

Edit to add....ya'll could always just charter a bigger boat! :#

Coin shows becoming obsolete would seriously decrease my coin purchases. Looking at pictures online is not the same as holding the coins in my hands and picking things out.

I agree with you. Shows are important but many bigger dealers are going to decide they are not worth the effort. If bigger dealers don't take tables, shows will not make it financially. I used to go to 3-4 shows a year. I hope to again but am not counting on it.

It would be really nice to see coins, tokens and medals in person before you bid on or buy them. I have yet to get burned by pictures during the past year, but I’d still before to see it before I buy it. I have had one return.

They should open up cant wait for the vaccine for years. If you can have a Wal-Mart or home depot open up safely no reason for a show not to be. The little man has 2 stand up amd fight for you right 4 a show just saying....

It’s a matter of how the virus spreads through populations. The more people are immune, either through infection or immunization, the more difficulty the virus will have in perpetuating itself. It’s a bit like a brush fire running out of fuel. No hosts, no spread.

I do miss coins shows, the hunt on the bourse and the analytical exercise of viewing thousands of coins to find the opportunities.

Yes, I’m in a similar situation whereas I qualify ahead of my wife and son (with health challenges).
It’s a very difficult and frustrating situation with enormous challenges. The sheer numbers of people needing immunization are daunting along with the logistics and difficulties associated with manufacturing and distribution. Temperature requirements are stringent making it more difficult.

It’s really a great accomplishment that we’ve come as far as we have with this thing given the challenges at hand.
It’s not perfect, but it’s progress.

Don't forget many of these bigger dealers are also buying coins at the shows. I think the first few shows may end up being some of the best simply because of the buying opportunities for the dealers. Some people are sitting on coins just waiting for the opportunity to sell them in person to their favorite dealers.
