Next Mint Gimmick Idea

May have had too much coffee this morning, because I can’t get this idea out of my head, but I’ll let you all be the judge of my sanity.
Building upon the success of the W Quarter program, the Mint should bring back the Buffalo nickel reverse, intentionally create a 3-legged variety, and randomly seed it in amongst the regulars.
It’d create buzz, frenzy and excitement all while paying homage to one of the most well-known numismatic varieties in history.
Now where can I find the suggestion box???

Well, they could also do what they did back in the 19th century: pull out some old dies and do some restrikes of classic coins and sell them to the public. Now they could do it at an outrageous price.
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
I am sure there are multiple ideas that have been listed in 'mint brainstorming sessions'.... and would not be surprised at anything that may appear to lure the collector dollar. Cheers, RickO
You're assuming they have brains over there!

Maybe the next series of coins produced should be cut into the die the "Proper" way a coin would look so that you would have to look into a mirror to actually see what it says on the coin it's self, instead of reverse proofs the whole coin would be reversed. I'm sure that they wouldn't sell out in under 5 minutes and they could place them in with all the Golden Dollars that they have in Storage.
With all the constant bitching about the Mint here maybe they should just go back to the days when the only things they offered were proof and Mint sets and a few medals. It wasn't all that long ago. And it was boring.
If you don't like their products don't buy 'em. But there must be a sizeable number who do like them. And no-I buy very few new Mint issues. I'm just sayin'.
I would be very happy if the mint could just release all coins minted and dated for a particular year in that year. Doing a semi series release and then releasing the remainder of series in the next year is becoming a "norm" and not the exception. Innovation dollar proofs and reverse proofs come to mind. There are 10 coins minted per year 5 proofs and 5 reverse proofs. Collectors had to wait until February 1, 2021 for the final 2020 reverse proof to be released. In 2020 we had to wait until February 7th for the release of the last reverse proof dated 2019.
IMO
If the mint can't stay up with its current production runs, adding more specialties will only increase more delays and next year releases of prior year dated coins.
Kennedys are my quest...
The big complaint about the mint I have is when people get shut out of purchasing products either because they underestimated demand or can't have a functioning website where people don't get banned for trying to purchase products. Even if the only things they offered were proof and mint sets and a few medals, congress is keep ordering new coin designs. First congress needs to stop coming out with new quarter programs.
Why not go a step further, they should make a mint set and proof set that includes a half cent, large cent, two cent, three cent, half dime, twenty cent, and three dollar gold. Then also do special sets of them in reverse proof and enhanced uncirculated.. Sounds crazy enough with the way they operate today.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltairehttps://collectivecoin.com/coinbowlllc
I would pay a stupid amount of money for that!

Too much coffee. I overdid the caffeine intake today too. Got up at 4 a.m. and......oh, well.....lots of water at lunch.
That is a legitimate complaint. I believe only the legislators can deal with that one, and we all know how effective they are.
I'm looking for the 3 legged buffalo in .9999 1oz gold
Yeah, I can well remember getting excited about the next year's proof and mint sets.
I thought it was really cool when the 73-S sets came out with the Ike dollars.
Now, how could anything rival that for pure excitement?
