I went broke about 10 years ago and put these into "deep storage". They're baaack out now! Does anyone attribute Peruvian varieties like "male llama"? Also a complete set of Venezuela 5 Bolivares piled to the left there.
I even found a couple cobs in my miscellaneous box. I apparently though they might be Potosi mint from time of Philip II 1556-1598, but they're not in best of condition and I'm not a cob expert.
I've got 1 coin from Peru, a 1966 20 Soles de Oro, MS-66 in an old holder. Mintage of 4001 coins. I don't have a ton of interest in Peru, but I do like old plastic, so the coin was sort of along for the ride.
@PillarDollarCollector Know anyone with a Peru 1907-JF Dinero? I say it doesn't exist, The PCGS set registry shows it, but none to be found. Anyone ever SEEN one? Any have one? I will buy it...

I have no idea to be honest I am not familiar with that series.
This is quite a find to say the least. I saw it show up in the NGC census last year but have not seen it before. Is this the Ortiz coin? Or another one? Looks different than the one in the UBS catalog.

1754 8 reales NGC MS62. Super sharp strike, bright white, cartwheel luster. IMO would have graded 63 or possibly higher w/o planchet flaws. I had thought to regrade it as a "Mint Error" but Mr Eureka said unlikely they would do that. Was returned to an online seller by someone who doesn't know how to read a coin photo. My gain.

That is a much more wholesome coin than the problem coins you had been pursuing.

I would really like to find an 1838-1840 Arequipa Sunface 8R, especially the Herz coin which sold in the 1983 ANA.

A coin from old Peru now Bolivia Potosi mint and final year of the cob coinage.
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
Don't have many South American coins, but here's a Dinero

How do you know if it it a male llama?

It's a die chip I think (not sure tho) that makes the llama seem uh, um, "very happy" to see you.
I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one . . . .
Thanks for taking one "for the team" . . . . .

Shoot I would collect coins from the south pole if I could.

I believe it is different.

A number of coins from Peru made their way through China:

One of favorites. I always wonder how many Pisco Sours the engraver had for lunch to come back and misspell "Hispan"
