I agree the old normal would be great about now. Cards have been the one thing I enjoy that I can still participate in, and the last 3-4 months collecting has really been interesting. All of us enjoy it when what we own appreciates, but this acceleration does not seem healthy nor natural. New money, declining dollar as an asset, hedge funds getting in, people have extra cash due to fewer vacations/trips/travel... whatever the reason a good chunk of people are getting priced out of collecting. Same thing happened with NASCAR when corporate money pushed out the hardcore fan when it was hot, and when that money left they looked up and a chunk of the die hard fan base had also left with them. Hopefully that does not happen with our hobby.
KC I sincerely hope it does happen. If that is what it takes to restore sanity and root out the mess of pumpers and gullible Slab Queen marks.
But we’ll still be left with a fundamentally broken system that says this picture below makes logical sense, LOL... scanner differences notwithstanding...

Except in your example your 4.5 is a unicorn. Remember seeing it in person at the Louisville Slugger museum a few years back, and I did everything I could to get that security guard to fall asleep - turkey sandwich, melatonin, soft music, Benadryl and NyQuil... but alas to no avail and the card stayed guarded 😄
