One more round of newps

As I noted in earlier threads in the past month, I typically save up to buy at FUN. Here are the last 4 I bought from dealers I normally try to get things from at FUN but instead bought from them online, the others were shown in the earlier threads.
First up is an 1814 E/A bust half. This is a great coin that was too good to pass up - my images don't show all of the die clashes present on this coin. I am going to have to go back and reshoot and move the lighting around to pick them up. Nevertheless one can see the nice blue and gold toning overprinting the prevailing gray, with great surfaces overall.

Second, here is my first gold coin since selling off everything a couple years back. I will slowly replenish with a great coin from time to time. I love classic half eagles. This one has everything going for it, OGH and bean, frosty devices and great luster. The color is classic gold with some grading into more orange around the edges on both sides. Buying in a 30 year old holder means that this look is likely stable. For the crack out folks, this probably would get a 58 when the graders are in the mood, but I am happy to keep it in double green.

Finally, 2 great barber quarters to upgrade from VF to AU for both. I got these from one of our regular posters here via ebay. Thanks amwldcoin! They both have nice surfaces. For the 1898-O there is a TV, which is way off for what the coin looks like. The ebay listing images and mine are more what the coin really looks like. Lot of nice color toning along the edges of the 1902.

Well that is about it for a while, most of the FUN funds are used up. It is always better to see in hand at a show, but if you know the dealers you can trust they buys online. Let's hope things are going again by summer ANA - the vaccine rollout via pharmacies starts next week with a goal of 100 million per month. Maybe by June things can be getting back to normal including shows.
Best, SH

Love that classic head !
An e/a with feathers on the left wing is hard to come by. Good job!

Fantastic selections - each worthy of its own thread!
Fantastic pickups!
Great group of coins!
Agreed, your 1814 E/A has a better than normal strike on the reverse, and very nice eye appeal as well, congrats on picking that one up. This Redbook variety is my favorite bust half in my set.
Your other coins are also quite nice, congrats!

Wow your $5 looks beautiful!
Love the busty
Very nice acquisitions. You are doing well buying online. I do agree, that buying when coins can be viewed in hand is preferable.... but there are excellent, dependable sources on the web too. Cheers, RickO
very nice ... congratulations.

That half eagle looks so good. Very, very nice. Hang on to that sucker for as long as you can!
terrific additions
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Love the new pickups ... and the methodology. I too try to build up the war chest and wait for ideal opportunities. Without major shows to attend, it's hard to know when or how those opportunities might arise, but they tend to happen if I keep looking and turning over rocks, even without the shows.
All four are lovely examples, but the Half Eagle just seems to jump out from the group as special, and it's not even a coin I collect or have collected.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
