Monster Pawn Shop find. Scope Pics
Hi guys, stopped by my favorite Pawn Shop. Picked up this massive Doubled Die, you can actually call it a "Triple Die"! It's the 1964d Kennedy. Bought it for the silver price . Little toned as well. Never had such a dramatic DDO Kennedy before, such as this one. Whaddya guys think? Thanks

Joey, your eye never ceases to amaze me. Great pick up. Especially for spot!
I think I was wrong in my dd guess? At first I said, DD, then I said, Triple Die. But when looking closer, I really think that my coin is that beautiful Quadruple Variety? The famous QDO.

Knowledge is power, and you got the power.
I am not looking it up, but it is at least TDO.

What does your pawn shop sell silver for?
Cash?
I paid, 90% silver for a half dollar, $10.
I just checked Coinflation's prices. For the 90% 64 Kennedy's, $9.53c. So he charged me only 47c over spot.
Thanks.

My Pawn Shop is awesome. This is where I found the 1966 "Doubled Profile ". That cost was minute as well. Lol

Is it a listed variety?
Nice!
Congrats!

Yes, after further review. With my scope. The ones that posted the coin to be a TDO, well you guys were correct. Thanks. Still, I love the coin. Here are the detailed pics. It is the TDO, not the QDO. FS-105 TDO

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. It's a worthwhile variety. Did it come out of a silver junk box? If so be sure to carefully check the rest of the '64-D half dollars therein as these tripled (and doubled) dies sometimes come in groups. Around 30 years ago I found 13 examples of the '64-D DDO-001 out of a junk box.
Yes It did come from a junk box. There were about 15 other 1964d's. This was the BEST one. I tried to find the RPM also, no luck. Thanks for you determining the correct variety. The QDO came close though. Can you give it a approx. grade? I know about pics and all.

Kuddo's Bro.
Thanks for the super photos.
And the information.
Cool.
In the early 90s I bought a 64-D shotgun roll (the big long ones...$20 face).
It was tails-tails. I paid a tiny bit over spot for it.
Every coin was the QDO, and some were outstanding.
I sold the crappier ones the next day at the show and the rest went to ANACS.
If you have a nice one of these in an old small ANACS holder, there's a good chance its provenance can be traced to the Mannie Gray Central States Hoard. (lol)
@JoeyCoins .... The TDO is a nice addition. I added mine years ago when I built a set of Kennedy halves... There are DD's as well... Have not looked at that set (raw, album) in a long time. Stopped adding to it around 2009. Cheers, RickO
Strange? According to the PCGS price Guide. The 1964d DDO, is valued higher than the TDO? Strange, no? Why???

it sure is nice to make a catch like that, congrats
Never take my scope with me. Only waiting for me at home.

Likely scarcer though my evidence would be just based on my experience and not any real data.
Supply and demand. Unfortunately, coins aren't priced on how cool they are.
Die # 1 is actually more impressive IMO.
Good-natured ribbing for this kid. He's got gumption! Enthusiasm! I enjoy coin collecting more as a result of his participation! It's the youth that will make up tomorrow's class of collectors. Joey should be embraced.
I got this sweet deal waaaaay back when from a local dealer of mine. Knowing him, he probably gave it to me for $2.00.
Keep in mind, the price of silver was a lot lower back then
