Sorry lol

Looks like a plated cent. Looks gold plated.
Is it a cheerio penny .it weighs 2.6 grams
I agree with T.C.
Gold-plated novelty item.
The slight overweight number is the plating
Ty for the help. Is it worthy of getting it graded.
all those after-market plated coins are considered damaged
Ok I'm sending some coins to get graded so I can get an idea of that process. And this one is beautiful. But I'll use some others Ty for your time and responses.
You don't waste money grading plated novelty items.
Agreed.
I could be wrong but don’t think the Cheerio penny has a mint mark.....nor is it plated as this appears to be.
"Ok I'm sending some coins to get graded so I can get an idea of that process. And this one is beautiful. But I'll use some others...."
Plating is a form of damage to the coin after it left the mint.
It would not be gradable.
If you are thinking about sending other coins you may want to post photos here first.
If you're asking about sending in this coin, I strongly suggest you get a second opinion before sending anything else in.
yeah. post some pics of what you are sending in. we might can help you save a few bucks.
Ok I would love the help I'll post on a minute Camara not the best but I'll get them together .
P.S. - proof cents (modern ones) are minted in San Francisco and have an S mintnark.
Are you sure it's not corroded?
You could purchase one already graded and a better grade than your coins and spend less money than having yours graded.

those cents have too many marks from contact with other coins to make them worth grading
Those cents are great for albums but they aren’t worth sending in. They have some marks and nicks. I pluck those from circulation and keep them but I wouldn’t send them in. I suggest looking at CoinFacts here at PCGS web site and look at what higher grade cents look like.
Thanks for the insight I have only been coin hunting with circulated coin rolls from the bank. I love the error coins. But I wanted to start getting uncirculated coin rolls.
It’s fun. It was a big part of how I started when I first got into collecting. And if you have a good eye you can spot some nice varieties. Several post here with their roll finds pretty frequently. I wish I had more time for roll hunting.
there is only a shot of the reverse of the nickel and it is too blurry to tell anything
To add to my post, SF also struck circulation coins over the years, such as the ones you posted.
@Zoee... Posting pictures and asking here can save you a lot of money as a beginner. Your coins are good examples of what not to submit. Good luck in your searches and keep asking questions. Also get a Redbook, it will help you with relative values and grading. Cheers, RickO
No as the 2000 Cheerios cents were all struck at the Philadelphia mint and have no mint mark. Your gold plated coin was originally struck at the Denver mint and then plated by an outside source as a novelty item and not by the mint or Cheerios.
Google Cheerios cent and you will see many pictures of the coin and some in the original holder as found in the cereal box.
And welcome aboard!
