Save eBay Seller - why?

JimWJimW Posts: 571 ✭✭✭✭

I have only recently started 'saving' ebay sellers. What is it about a seller that prompts you to 'save' them?
Presumably fair (low) prices, anything else? Good inventory?
TIA!!

Maybe if I get a good deal or a cherry-pick from them, I will save them.

If a seller has nice coins and/or fair prices I'll save them and periodically browse their inventory.
I will also save if I notice a seller runs actual auctions instead of all BIN listings.

going against the grain here... :( I list them as a reminder so that I do not bid or buy from them. Sellers of counterfeit, doctored coins and not disclosing coin / slab issues are a few reasons why I do this. It is a shorter list to list the bad as to list the good sellers. :)

I save the ones I've spotted and/or bought from who do not seem to often sell coins.
Sellers like actual estate sale people or sellers who maybe have only had a few coins or rolls that one time I found them.
For me that's where some of the real finds have been made...I assume they don't know coins well and so when they have some they just want to make a few bucks!
Shhhhhh, secret pro tip don't tell anyone

    Cherrypickability.

I write a little note under each saved seller, and while a few tend to have items in my collecting wheelhouse (like old Whitman albums or error coins), in the majority of cases it boils down to what he said. If you have nice clear pictures and don't look at your inventory carefully, I probably have you saved.

Building on what @WAYNEAS said, I would find it useful for eBay to also have something like a 'Saved Blacklist' that would serve the purpose. Of course, such a thing would be resisted as it might discourage buying, but at the same time if it is your own personal list that no one else can see, what is the harm??
