apparently there is a connection between chess, trance/techno, numismatics?

.
so i'm watching some twitch streamers playing bullet chess (30 sec timers) and liked a few of the tracks that were playing and this is one of them. so somehow i managed to get a copy to my pc and when i opened it to see if i really liked it, i saw this in the background of the media player!!! at first i thought the prog was just showing something from my files but then i tried to read the text and then had to go look it up and went to this artists home page and sure enough, this is the cover:

.

i did decide this track isn't for me.

this was ok:
Reform - Checkmate (Amelie Lens remix)

I have always thought that a connection existed between technical workers (development, engineering, etc) and coin collecting. It usually seems to show up with photography as well.

Over my years in business, I had well in excess of 300 engineers working for me - mechanical, chemical, design etc.. I only recall one engineer that also collected coins. There could have been others that never mentioned it. However, in other fields, I knew several. Also, among firearms enthusiasts, coin collecting is quite prevalent. Cheers, RickO

some. i prefer more laid back chess like eric rosen and a few others.

used to watch a lot of blitz from kevin @ thechesswebsite but went to look for those vids and couldn't find them.

i really like watching the mixed/collab vidz where they stream together. botez, brah, rosen, aman, nakamura.

naka has a few vidz had me laughing so hard i was in tears.

watching carlsen lose recently to espineko was enjoyable. nice lines. - we have a young GM (neimann) here in the US which is nice and he won that game in 22 moves with NO CAPTURES to become GM against a strong GM!

    ok, i better stop here.

I’ve been playing for about 20 years, went to tournaments and the whole shebang.

I love Carlsen, but the espineko victory was awesome. ( I get a lot of info these days from ~ Agadmator ~

he is my favorite probably as far as the content he chooses and the execution of his presentation and explanations but that voice just grated on me too much.

unfortunately i stopped watching a couple other fantastic channels because of that. mato and kingscrusher. loved their content.

@earlyAurum I have been watching him for a few years now, I think I’m a stronger player now than when I was Active 15 years ago and I haven’t touched a chess piece in that time frame.
When I was playing a lot of tournament chess in the early 2000’s I got to about “1800” strength, for me it was more about the scene than the actual games. When a big chess event would come near me, Atlanta or DC I would go and play just to see who was there. I played Hikaru a few times in the skittles room, also Stripunsky and Shabolov. These were mostly $2 games, I never won.. but did have some close calls. Then When the Poker Boom happened I moved on to that and had a lot of Fun while it lasted, got to play against all kinds of “Pros and Celebs” at foxwoods.

Thanks These days its Coins, I Think all of these games/hobbies share similarities. Good Memory, Strategy and a Certain Threshold for Risk/Reward.

    Games ?
Battleship is to much like bingo.
Risk is very Intense especially when playing family .
Chess is a requirement in our family FUN.
How old is the game of Chess compared to coins would be a good question.

I really enjoy chess but I have a question.
    What is a "twitch streamer?"

    What is a "twitch streamer?"

it is a basic format where someone has a webcam or whatever and "streams" has live video going with them doing various things. in all reality, it is the same as tik tok, youtube live etc. there are usually donations, subscriptions, chat etc.

twitch is the medium. software/hardware provider whereas we are the content providers.

It has been years since I played chess.... Often did chess lunches with a few of my engineers... Started playing as a kid, there was a chess club in school where I learned the game. Now, I do not know anyone who plays. I have quite a few chess sets I have collected....carved stone, ivory, sandalwood... I do miss the game though. Cheers, RickO

i think overall gotham is prob my favorite these days, easy voice to listen to. good content and he has for sure gotten even better. the analysis of Caruana (go USA!) for the 7 straight wins against the best including almost 2 wins against the King was a wonderful video to watch. (appreciate your encouragement to watch some gotham vids. i saw him but i admit his look threw me off but i was the one that was off.) he is alright.

candidates this month, pressure is mounting...

I was chief arbiter a few years ago when he played in the U16 national championship. All he wanted to do was play basketball. I think he would have played during games if I'd have let him.
