There is no one good. Not even one.

    Are you confessing to something?

No, as I said before, just quoting scripture. But I’ll be the first to say that I’m a very imperfect human being.

I rank thieves right up there with pedophiles. Scums of the earth.

Can we have a little perspective here? I would much rather someone stole everything I own than lay a hand on my child.

    Perspective?
Well....scums of the earth is a blanket term I classify thieves, or pedophiles, or rapists just to name a few. It’s not a scientific theory, just my own opinion. And while I agree there may be degrees of scum baggery, for instance...the pedophile that lays a hand on your child would be at the top of the pyramid. As far as stealing from someone....I think they are scum wether they steal a gold Saint or a coffee mug.

I always wonder how postal thieves would identify a package as a good theft target and actually find a way to try to get away with it. Chronic thieves create a major series of headaches and suffering with those they steal from. In a large retail DIY company I work for part time they have a major theft problem and it seems that they only turn it over to law enforcement when they have a theft ring that tries to sell their stuff online. Management makes the argument that calling the police on thieves would be bad for business; I seriously doubt that logic. If a thief were caught up front and led out in handcuffs by police it would be good for business because the vast majority of customers believe in honest business dealings and could not imagine stealing as thieves do, many of which have drug addictions. Some say we need to try to "understand" thieves and have a listening session to find where they are coming from. It is clear that they don't believe in a fundamental rule of a civilized society that you respect other people's property.

Always sorry to hear of people's losses.... Theft of property is painful to people, a personal violation. In my business career, one of my responsibilities was security. We took theft seriously, even of small items - such as people's lunches stolen from the provided refrigerators. Yes, it happens... and I caught a couple... One was a Personnel Department employee...had her walking down the street -unemployed - the same day. Iron clad proof and gone. Zero tolerance. I have other examples as well. Cheers, RickO

Coins come first, but did they find the thief?

So all is OK you found the coins? If so you are lucky please buy private insurance and use FedEx or UPS with such orders.

while first class mail may not be 'targeted' unless it has a high postage, shows 'insured' or requires a signature, it sure gets easily lost.

I agree, small packages with high label costs sure point to massive insurance.

Mr. Davis said the Postal inspectors are working the case and all they could say is that they had been located.

    Thanks for the added update.

It will be interesting to learn whether the items had made it out of the postal facility as opposed to being stashed for later removal.
