thanks for the generous giveaway. I saw one of those slabs in an auction once, and was a bidder until it went way more than I wanted to pay for some gold chunks.
Online bidding on the lots seems to have slowed. I guess last-minute bidders are using sniping software.
The Brasher has exceeded the 1804 Proof Eagle from last night. So, as far as I know, it will close as the 3rd most valuable coin ever sold, at least. But maybe we will see history made tonight!
We had 68 guesses. With a guess of $9,410,000, a difference of only $50,000 (or 0.5%), the winner is Slowhand! @slowhand PM me an address and I'll send your prize.
At $9,360,000 the Brasher Doubloon solidly holds the position of the second highest price ever paid for a coin at auction. I'll take that!

With a well timed sneeze and bumping the right keys, you could have been the new owner.
I have no business edging close to the deep end. That there is a safety button for those like me that would be devastated had I sneezed and fell in. Could you imagine your child or puppy bumping these new fangled touch screens in the wrong place. Shoot, I can't afford to cover 10% of the BP let alone any of the hammer price
