Colorful 1909 Proof Set

1909 is an interesting year as you had two cents, the Indian, and the first year of issue for Lincolns. The proof Lincolns are made in a matte proof finish, and fairly difficult to differentiate from business strikes. Mintage figure for the 3 silver Barber coins was a whopping 650.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Nice set John!

wow! what a set 🤯
WHAT? No 09 VDB Lincoln in PR67RD? Are you the Eldorado or the Yugo?
JK, Great group of 09's. A forum member here has a killer set of Uncirculated 09's.
Whoa! Good stuff!
Wow! That's wonderful. Great set. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting some beautiful coins!!
It looks like it is an original set with all of the silver coins having matching toning. That is a big plus. The two cents would have required two purchases. The cent and the nickel were purchased together as a set. A collector had to buy three sets to get all of the cents. That’s why the Proof mintage for the 1909 nickel is the highest in the series.
My first early Proof set was a 1909. It was an original matched set and only included the Indian Cent. I bought it from the Goldbergs at the 1976 ANA Convention that was held in New York City. I sold it to raise money for the down payment on my first home.
You have a good eye @Downtown The quarter is graded PF65 Cam, and it looks better, has more flash and color than many PF-67 Barbers. It is one of my favorite coins! Thanks for the kind words.
Just can't get over the cost of those 09 VDB Proof's.....Holy cow!
That’s an amazing set! Thanks for sharing!
Just finished a 1909 set, not as well matched, sort of grew out of my proof type set so the silver is a bit random. I don't plan to buy the VDB either, price seems out of line. Beautiful set sir.
Neat!!
The hair details on the 1909 Nickel are just plain amazing!
