Slab Labels

Other than the obvious saying "Anniversary" or "First Strike" or "First Day of Issue" and the like, does the style/design of the label on the slab make any actual difference in value other than if the collector wants them all to match?
For Apollo commemoratives, I see a lot of different labels... for instance 2 different label types for the same attributes and being signed, but lables set up and colored differently. I do see that there are different populations based on the slab...

Some people enjoy having those early labels and may pay a bit more. My personal opinion is I won’t pay any extra for a label design or something like first strike or first day of issue.
Some people focus on labels, some on slabs, some on provenance, some on TPG....I focus on the coin - period!! Cheers, RickO
To a few it matters, to most it does not, that will change someday when the registry is changed to add points for the label.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I like the basic label, perhaps add the gold shield. I like a clean, minimal label...

When I'm working on completing a series, I love having my coins evenly matched in both grade and color (for example, all nice and dirty PCGS XFs). No dipped coins, no AG3s or AU50s mixed in. I prefer to have a similar PCGS label, if possible, as it gives the set a really cool uniform look, although the coin itself always comes first.

For me it is always the grade and not the label but I do buy Limited Edition Series and Signature coins in addition that parallel regular struck coins. I do not buy coins because they are FS or FDOI but have won some in auctions only because they were at my best price offered.
Kennedys are my quest...
I like consistency in my collection, so promotional labels are a detractor for me. Ugly labels I discount for the cost of reholdering. Of course, that doesn't mean I'd be successful a buying something at that discount, I just lower the max I'll pay.

I prefer the "normal" label and would never pay a premium for something fancier much less anything els.e

I'm too busy looking at the coin to worry about the label.![:D :D](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)

I am also an amateur astronomer, so even tho for modern coins I only collect Mercuries.... I liked the Apollo commems, and then saw they had slabs signed by Haise... 3 different styles tho... Arg...
So... I selected a style and got all of them in FDOI which I got a non-FDOI as a filler, and a different style with the FDOI... so still looking for that 1 style 5oz slab in FDOI... The set did end up as a Top Pop tho...
Let me know if the link works... Im not sure how to do this...

Depends on if you’re collecting coins or holders. I do tend to like coins in old holders, but that has to do with coin stability and perception of grading standards at the time.
Crazy - Still waiting for standard Blue label to buy a PR 70 DCAM cent for 2020. I suspect I will need to submit my own coins as probably I will see 2021 proofs in non blue labels before a supplier comes out with just a blue label. Or suppliers are stuck with all the other tables knowing if they do not sell them first they will not be able to off load them once the Blue ones appear.

It must matter or PCGS and NGC wouldn't keep coming up with new ones.
yellow, blue, pink, striped, or polka dots... who cares.
it only matters if you collect labels. How many of you do??
do you seriously think that the buyer for your 10K coin will care what label color it is described on?
I guess that it kinda matters to me. Especially for resale. I am kinda new, and I know that it is a bit difficult for me to know how well a coin is struck. Sometimes issues are not struck all that well from the get go... so a coin labeled FDOI helps me understand that this is an indicator that this may be as good as it gets. I would think it would help others as well.

I like coins the most, majority of my coins are not in plastic, but there is one set of labels that I buy and enjoy and that's this series. I understand it's a losing bet as an investment, but I like it.![](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/editor/cv/l1pmzn8fn8v7.jpg)
