Any idea what the issue is with this PCGS holder??

Can't say I've seen this before - the obverse looks normal - low value coin.

Could be someone tried cleaning the plastic with ‘Goof Off’ or something equally abrasive .... I did that once to my 3-Leg Buff slab and had to reholder it. Doh. 😆

‘Goo Gone’, now that’s the stuff you want, much more gentle.

or acetone or xylene or toluene. The best stuff for cleaning off label glue is Ronsonol.

Looks like someone was going to polish that up, and went after it with a buffing wheel!

Acetone is my guess. Anyone who uses xylene is probably smarter.

    Yeah, I can relate.
I spilled acetone on my desk a year or so ago and ruined a slab.
    Oops.

  • Maybe a toning attempt gone wild.

As others have already said. Acetone. I have done it myself - but only once.

    Appreciate the replies.

I once tried a buffing wheel on a NGC slab with plastic polish - bad idea. :D
