    An old counterfeit that was probably made back when the real thing was in circulation. It had to have had a silver wash when it was new.

    It looks like Ms. Liberty is sneering at you if you take her as a dime in trade.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I'd love to have this piece in my fake collection. Little disappointed that the maker didn't put some arrows on it and a "cc" mintmark,however.

    I have a contemporary counterfeit that's brassy-looking like the 1874 above. Dated 1872-CC.

    That is a great contemporary counterfeit, in my eyes the lack of workmanship gives it a lot of charm.

    Awesome and collectible contemporary counterfeit. The silvering that was on it has long since worn off...
