What was your favorite sports card pick up of 2020?

I only ended up with five cards (two of which are doubles because I liked the card so much) but my favorite pick up was probably this 2018 Topps Chrome Sapphire Ronald Acuna card. Its such a great looking card in hand. Love the cracked ice look along with the now famous bat down pose.
What was your favorite pick up? Doesn't need to be your most expensive either.

Mine:
Yaz Master Set
#1 Gino Cappelletti master set
#1 John Hannah master set

I got this one back on a sub from earlier this year. 1/1 and highest graded.
Awesome Torre lid!

I'll revisit this thread in March and post pics when my stuff from my July bulk sub finally pops
This beauty from @Dpeck100
Wrestling - Danielson - Storm - Tajiri
I'm going to cheat. My favorite card and pack pickups this year came from the same place, thanks again @JakeR2234
But by far my favorite item added to the collection this year was a birthday gift from my wife and kids
For a Roger Staubach collector that's a lot of Walter Payton!
I didn't pick up many single cards in 2020; most of my purchases came in the form of unopened. So here's my favorite, although there are several others that are feeling criminally left out.
1983 OPC Pelle Lindbergh RC, front and center. As rare as they come.
Andy
This is my favorite for 2020
2004 spx
1989 topps psa 10
1959 phillies
Phillies of the 70's
Two favourites, if it’s ok:
Nice! I have that one with Clarke, too!
Andy
Best one this year for my '59 set.
Purchased a couple years ago but finally got it graded this year!
My 53 Topps Mantle.
I pick up 102 1964 Topps coins with most being in pack fresh condition. They have been at PSA since July.
Wow! Love the sextuplets!
STILL the most iconic 80's card. Or at least in the top 5.
I've had a certain infatuation with the card ever since my early days of collecting
A couple 70's cello packs were the highlight of my year
PC Walter Payton - Bear Down!
While not a graded card, I managed to find myself an affordable example of one of my all-time favorite players - Chief Bender. The other cool aspect about this card is that the other side, Ira Thomas (who was the other half of the Bender battery) has a different style to it - no name on the front.

I am 100% with you. The crouched batting stance, the dark backdrop of the dugout and the bright yellow and green colors make this card standout. Rickey is easily a top 10-15 player of all time and I cannot get enough of this card for some reason.

Cool pick up. You don't hear Chief Bender mentioned very often in the hobby.
Not my "most favorite card" for 2020 as per thread title;
however I was thrilled to add Chief to my T206 set earlier this year.
Bender was well-liked by his fellow players. Long-time roommate and fellow pitcher Rube Bressler called him "one of the kindest and finest men who ever lived". Ty Cobb praised his intelligence, describing a play by Bender in the 1911 World Series as "the greatest bit of brainwork I ever saw in a ballgame". Cobb was not alone in regard for his intelligence; Bender drew similar praise from many other teammates, opponents, and umpires, including Billy Evans and Nap Lajoie. Bender was also known for his keen eyes and ability to discern subtle details of opposing pitchers' motions to help his teammates predict their pitches. His success led other teams to suspect Bender and the Athletics were stealing signs; though teammate Cy Morgan denied the A's were stealing signs, Danny Murphy praised Bender's ability and said he could "come pretty near to getting anybody's signs". Mack often put this skill to use by occasionally using him as the third base coach or first base coach on days he wasn't scheduled to pitch.
The innovator of the slider is debated, but some credit Bender as the first to use the pitch, then called a "nickel curve", in the 1910s. Bender used his slider to help him achieve a no-hitter and win 212 games.

VERY nice card! Definitely on my list I've seen a few of those cycle through eBay, but the price tag is beyond my reach (for now!)

Thank you, I appreciate that.
I won this one at auction. The BIN people are trying to price too high.
Takes a lot of time & patience to be at the right place at the right time
Here's mine....I've said this card would some day be in my collection and now it is...I just wish I would have pulled the trigger years ago!

That’s a nice 4.5!
Buying this raw at the beginning of the year and subbing it:
My favorite 2020 pickup was without a doubt this guy...
And tied for 2nd it’s this pair below, hopefully I get the raw blue-back version back from PSA someday soon.

Jesus. Nice card!
@rofles you just won the internet
it's one thing to own a sick card like that, but the fact that you procured it raw and submarined it yourself................that is invaluable brother
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I collected baseball cards when I was younger, but didn't keep interest until about two years ago. Being a little older and having a lot more money to spend, I have really enjoyed helping my dad put together sets from his birth year until today. However, I've diverged and picked up cards to start a 1954 set and upgrade my grandfathers 1959 topps set. Here are my favorite cards I have picked up this year:
My two favorite cards from this year.

i am glad i got these two before the covid increase happened.
Mike.
Awesome card.
Does mine look like a 10?

Other guys have better eyes than me. Pics are tough to distinguish. My take is difference between 9 and 10 is often subjective.
Thanks guys! It is my favorite card in my collection!! 😁

Heritage just sold one for $27,600. They have another PSA 10 starting in mid Jan and expected to fetch 25K+. That's certainly a card you will want to hold onto for a while.
My favorite pickup this year. Regretted selling a PSA 4 and a SGC 3.5 several years ago until I replaced them with this one.
That Aaron looks solid. From where I'm sitting, it looks like it should be an 8 at minimum. What cant we see?
Vagabond - thanks for that info. Do have a link to the heritage auction you are referencing? Couldn’t find. Thx!
JB that is one gorgeous upgrade you did there! I have card envy
that's a really nice card. why is it graded so low does it have a surface issue or wrinkle on it.
Awesome pickup JB - my son has been wanting us to get an Aaron rookie card for our collection. Guess I better follow your lead. What a great looking card!!
KC
Tough choice- i had only 3 pickups this year.
Been wanting to pickup one of these for a few years. Finally got one.
PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.51% Complete)
PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.80% Complete)

A very small wrinkle at the top that comes down to the second letter "a" in Aaron. My scanner always picks up small wrinkles on cards and it cannot pick it up on this one. You have to hold it at just the right angle and great lighting to see it.
Thanks KC. Good luck with your collecting. Pretty cool to have your son so involved. Do you still have that 57 PSA 2.5 Mantle?
I can't believe you were able to get that Gibson Raw. So nice in that holder.
Tremendous eye appeal on the 53 Mantle.
Interesting "real" RC of Cookie. Nobody knows who he is. However, if FB were like BK and all player accolades are considered Cookie would be a 1st Ballot HOFer.
I have to be honest that Aaron is drewelling material.
