Chopmark Follow Up

I missed the Chopmark Thread......I don't collect them (but know many folks that do). Wanted to share this coins.....AU-53 (PCGS). Comments welcome (and yes, there is just enough at the edges to determine that it is a 78-S). This grade was provided based upon the quality of the denticles. Reverse is just as busy with chops.

amazing quantity. It must be more difficult to determine it is an AU53.
How could they tell?
Wow. I'm not a chop mark fan and this doesn't help.
While technically mint bloom, denticle height and surface texture on unchopped areas could provide a technical grade. Clearly the guy on the floor was having fun with this one.
Cool coin, I don’t care if it was only worth melt. It is still cool to the curious. Clearly worth more for the novelty
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
This is an example where the chop marks are so dominant that a grade, IMO, is meaningless.
Nice coin! Those crazily chopped coins are always...interesting.
Here's another that I've had raw for a while now and will get submitted after this pandemic is over:
The coin in the OP is actually another one of those "privately struck" pieces the US Mint was known for in the 19th century. In this case, the meat lovers' pizza commemorative (unique).
It's amazing that coin is still AU even after so many chop hits. Nice. Peace Roy

Wow... That ranks up there in 'the most chop marked' coin category... Has to be one of the top two or three.... Not that anyone could count them. Cheers, RickO
Oh my!!! That's all I've got to say...

That coin would make one heck of a conversation piece. Many years ago I saw a pic of a trade dollar that was so heavily chop marked that the center of the coin fell out.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Cool coin!
I like Stealer's too.

it will details grade.
the punches need to look like something along the lines of a character or word.
Nice damaged coin. Having a straight grade on this or any other chopmarked coin is laughable.
8 Reales Madness Collection
There are plenty of non-character chops and I've never had any issues getting them into straight graded holders. And the 3 chops on this piece are actually full or partial characters
Assuming there aren't any hidden issues, this 74-CC will straight grade with the chop mark designation.
Very Cool!
