I have a Joe Louis Christmas planned for myself.

  • thisistheshowthisistheshow Posts: 9,386 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm looking for a good post-Christmas deal on a fake nine or ten foot tree.

We just put up our tree. It's not real. Wish it was. But nonetheless we are considering a bigger tree next year.

Yes, I am treating myself to a Joe Louis gift this year. It's a secret that my wife doesn't need to know about!

I'm working on the deal right now, it's a group of very rare Joe Louis cards. The seller lives overseas in England. It's going to be awesome!

I don't know why I started this thread, I don't even celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Festivus. I will be picking up our pole this week at Lowe's.

Do you really not celebrate Christmas?

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

@thisistheshow, Yes, I celebrate Christmas, the Festivus thing was just a reference to Seinfeld. There's been a lot of Seinfeld references around here lately, so I figured, why not? 😂😂

Now, one thing I do have to get for Christmas is a new microwave, our microwave is history. One night, my wife was cooking something in our microwave and it started making weird noises and sparks started flying inside if it. My wife thought it was going to blow up, she was terrified.

This is a re-enactment of what happened that night....

I know about Festivus @doubledragon . Love the reference. Remember, my username/handle/whatever is a Seinfeld reference. 🤣🤣

@thisistheshow, In my opinion, Seinfeld is the greatest show of all time. That show was just a pure stroke of genius. It's one of the only shows that I can watch re-runs and not get tired of it.

Ah, so you wish to know about the dumplings. They are a pair of youngsters, boy and girl ages 5 and 6, that belong to my cousin. They don't want to hear about possibly receiving clothes for Christmas, they want no part of it!

My wife is also in the market for a new microwave. There was an... incident......and now the inside walls are permanently discolored.

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

@thisistheshow, 😂😂 I've done that before. I've also put stuff in the microwave that has metal type material on it and sparks started flying inside.

At the risk of getting too personal, when my son was five years old he decided that he wanted to make some hot apple cider. So he took an apple flavored Capri Sun and put it in the microwave for two minutes. Needless to say, that foil packaging in the microwave was far more festive than all of the lights on our Christmas tree that year....

Our "incident" involved my son making ramen in the microwave but forgetting to add the water...

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

@AFLfan, 😂😂😂😂 I think that story beats them all, Capri Sun, wow. I can't imagine the mess that must have made!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have plenty of socks already. If anyone in my family gives me socks, they will receive the cheapest gift possible from me!

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 7,714 ✭✭✭✭✭

tube socks are cringeworthy, but try getting an obligatory package of undersized tighty-whities from your grandparents every Christmas that invariably cut off all circulation

"go try them on and see if they fit"

walk back in the room 3 minutes later and say in 4 octaves higher....

"thank you so much, I just love these.......they fit perfectly and feel great"

i swear that happened to me for about 10 years straight

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Oh, don't get me started on tighty whities. Heck, they aren't even fit for a dog. Besides, most breeds prefer boxer shorts.

I usually use this guy for other purposes...
    .

    .
But he's so great at just being motionless and watching things go by, that I made him my "Elf on the Shelf" this holiday season.
    .

    .
Once Christmas is over, it's back to his other use...

    Pin cushion.
