The Official 2021 Topps Heritage Thread - Talking and Trading

I understand that 2020 Heritage High number hasn't even been released yet like it usually is every August, but I have waited too many years for the 1972 design.

What prompted this thread today is that blowout is having a 10% off sitewide black Friday sale, so I just pre-ordered their last 2 cases of 2021 Heritage for $989.96 each. I am very excited to have 2 cases of the 1972 heritage coming.

The days of getting cases of heritage for 6, 7, or even $800 each are long gone and never coming back, so I've (kinda) made my peace with the $1,000 plateau.

Anyone else excited about the 1972 design?

    Sorry to say ...
No trading partner this year (2021) - 1972 was never one of my favorites...
Will open a pack or two for anticipation of the upcoming baseball season ...

If I need a heritage fix, I'll need to jump back to the 1967 series (my all time favorite year) or 1965 (2nd favorite) and see what assemblages I can acquire. Or add the Greatest Moments to my 2020 (1971 set)

Don't expect to find any diamonds this late in the game -
    These acquisitions are strictly semimetal.

I’ll be in because I’ve been collecting Heritage for 8 years so why stop now. But I don’t like the 1972 design.

  • Ya, my 10 year ritual of stashing an unopened hobby case of Heritage is coming to a close. I'm giving it up, prices up to high and it seems the runs are getting bigger with way to many chase cards. Of all of the thousands of packs I've opened up, I have only pulled one hot box and three so-so autos. I'll work on the set to keep a run going. The 60's were my hey day, so the 70's can take a back seat to me still buying unopened, vintage stars, and raw HOFer's.

don’t mind the ‘72 design but heritage seems to be so watered down now. was hoping they’d correct the ship this year w the 71s but ended up being disappointing again.

may take the few hundred I throw at heritage this year and open some 72opc. probably have better results! 😉

I don't mind the 72T design but the price?

Might do retail instead of hobby? When it goes live on Topps.com, the price is better but I believe people are using bots or something and I've never been able to catch it before it sells out. I remember paying 600 for a case back in 2004 or so? We had a member named Kuhlman who had a shop and sold cases at a fair price.

A few years ago I pulled a Trout relic and this one from the year before last was a super pull that went to PSA. The hunt always brings me back each year.

I've been a RETAIL HOUND DOG for a few years now. And why I bought a very near complete 2020 High Number Master Set instead of ripping! No retail? I haven't been a fan of Heritage Hobby for awhile now. You are pigeon holed into average output per case and that's a huge LOL as compared to cost IMO. Retail has rarely let me down.

DISCLAIMER I'm not talking about HUGE hits. Retail delivers more bang for the buck when it comes to Sp's, chromes, relics, and base blue autos than hobby does in my real experience.

I hope so and you are probably right - so In Action cards and Action cards of regular cards as well. That’s a lot of Action for one set!

Hoping players that change teams in Series 2 have the Traded stamp on them and are put together in the set numerically.

    Hiya Dan

I have a friend here who just buys the "master" set every year and a factory Topps set.

I did have a moment myself...

Not sure to put it in the epiphany, come to Jesus moment or what?

But, I was looking at all the "excess" I have from either buying retail or a hobby case - bottom line? I've got way, way more cards than I know what to do with and after over 30 yrs of collecting? I'm getting way too old for all this.

Here's just the tip of the iceberg:

So, unless I want to buy packs just for entertainment to see what I can pull? Fine.

But, the excess? Will just have to find its way to Goodwill, I guess?

    "Supposedly" 1 week away now.

I’m reading that retail has already been released, hobby released 3/26. I checked my local walmart, but none in stock.

It's a shame, the Walmart shelves have been barren for months now!

I always try to buy some of the Heritage each year but I hardly ever hit anything worth a damn.

The retail situation is the very reason I am sitting this one out.

That's the way it is at Target by my house also unless you hit it right when the guy comes - now there's a sign - limit to 3 per person.

If any of you watch the "rip" shows - Jabs always shows pics of stuff @ the Walmarts near him?

I say he's dropped a couple of 20s into the hands of someone at the store and gets texts when they're about to shelve the stuff each week?

I've decided - right now - not to do anything with Heritage this year.
