@AlanSki - Thanks for pointing out in your OP that lovely Commemorative book. I just bought one for myself via eBay (this one is # 584), and like yours, is also personally signed by David in addition to the sig on the plate. Thanks so vERY much!

The only signed books I have are two red books signed by Ken Bresset and R.S. Yeoman. The Q. David Bowers book is incredible. It's fun to look at these and wish you could go back and collect decades ago.
I just received my copy of the Bowers signed and numbered Commem Encyclopedia just like the photo in the OP. After seeing this post, I bought it on eBay for $40 plus $15 shipping (used, but truly in excellent condition - MS67, lol). The book is fantastic, and now that it is “in hand”, I know why it’s called an “Encyclopedia”. It’s two inches thick, and probably weighs about four or five pounds. The information provided is invaluable for those of us that collect this unpopular but super attractive and interesting series!

David Bowers has published an amazing number of top drawer books over the last 55+ years. The first one I acquired was “Coins and Collectors” back in 1964.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
That was the 1st coin magazine I subscribed to! When it was close to the time for a new issue to arrive our mailbox door got a serious workout!

I routinely find better prices than on Amazon - on just about everything. I avoid them.

Nice book... Is it a new acquisition? Cheers, RickO
Did you get it for yourself?
It's my father's. He has items going back to the 60's.

Love the magazines, Coins and Coinage. Never knew these were printed so far back in the 60's? Nice

So many foreign coins had come to the United States brought back by service people that there were foreign coin buying guides printed.
My grandmother had this 1948 foreign coin buying price list:
S. Kellogg Stryker's Premium Catalog of Modern Foreign Coins - Cover
The book is now on the Newman Numismatic Portal of St. Louis, MO at the following link:

The Mysterious Egyptian Magic Coin
Coins in Movies
Coins on Television

I found that to go both ways myself.
Very scarce book. And very interesting reading as well.
Any chance of you sharing the table of contents???
Thanks
