Difficult to tell from those pictures, but I do not like the surface appearance.

I'm in the AU cleaned camp. Hard to tell in the 2x2(?). Maybe it's just got haze and looks better in fresh air.

With no disrespect to Ricko, if, as it appears to some of us, the coin’s been cleaned, he didn’t nail it.😉

    Under a good light.
Edit it say I'd also remove it from the cellophane holder first, no chance of a fair assessment in the holder and with that lighting.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

55 camp. Plenty of cleaned coins in AU holders

I think it could straight grade. Not saying it has not been cleaned.

The obverse photo looks like it was struck terribly. There is no rim on the top.

I don't think it straight-grades based on those photos. AU Details.

Feld nailed it when he stated ricko didn't nail it.

AU55. Not sure about it being cleaned, but an acetone dip might remove the funky coloration?

AU cleaned, but almost all MS 21 Peace Dollars look AU to me. If I ever find a really well struck one I may be inclined to buy it, even though I don’t collect Peace Dollars.

definitely au,and looks like residue from a badly rinsed dip. I would be interested in hearing from folks who think it has been cleaned, what's the tip off? I usually look for hairlines or odd glossiness but I'm not seeing that here. Thanks in advance.

Weird surfaces like it has a plastic coating or was cleaned.

The sheen looks noticeably off to me. I see a lot of cleaned coins without conspicuous hairlines.

Me, I don't think the obv looks AU. The flowing locks are flattened. The rev looks better but....that's not enough. Peace Roy

lcoopie, these are high relief coins. This one is in the upper 20 percentile for the date.

I'm not good with Peace dollar but this looks like it may have been an old metal detector find. Looks like a lot of pitting that caused someone to clean it. Just an idea.

@MFeld.... You are correct... I did not mention 'cleaned'.... an omission on my part. Thanks...Cheers, RickO
