I love this rendition of Ye Olde Mint.
I was the underbidder on this gorgeous Ron Landis carving recently.
Did anyone here win this?
Stack's notes the provenance as:
Provenance: From the Collection of Leonard Augsburger, co-author of The Secret History of the First U.S. Mint.

Crap! I missed that. When did it sell? I might actually have a picture of it taken several years ago.

It sold a week ago on Stack's. If you have pics, it would be great to see them!

That is a really nice piece... great detail, even the flag. Cheers, RickO
@Coinosaurus seems to be the one that sold it. I'll dig up a picture tonight.

Yes, it was sold with related artwork in the Stack's sale. This piece was purchased by me from John K.
Awesome detail! Now that's talent.
Here's the picture I took in 2011.

Wow, great photo @messydesk!
I wish I would have been able to win it but I happened to be away from the computer when the lot came up!
I hope whoever won it posts here and lets us know!
Nice piece. Likely bid on it if I"d known. Reminds me of a medal I have,,,,

It was in the Stack's sale, lot 3130 give or take a few lots.
The original painting was done by Edwin Lamasure, Jr. (1867–1916).
Here's a 1985 painting by Natalie House that went for almost $2K.

Here's a 1915 Litograph:

Amazing provenance on this! Both Ron and Len are mentioned in the Stack's lot description, but not John.
It would be great to know if John got this directly from Ron or if someone(s) else own it in between?
There's a postcard of Lamasure's painting from around 1915 but I can't find information on where the original painting in these days. Does anyone know?
Here's an interest postcard indicating the Ye Olde Mint building was owned by Frank H. Stewart Electric Company. It would be interesting to trace the provenance / ownership of the building to the point it was demolished. The postcard was made by Rosin & Company in Philadelphia, printed in Germany, and was available from Mary L. Martin.
Imagine if the Mint hadn't been demolished and was still in private (or public) ownership today?
