Liberty V Nickels — An underrated series? Post one to show how nice these can be!

After a long search, I finally settled on a type set example for this series, a 1906 gem proof in PCGS PR65. These were very readily available, but more difficult to find with attractive color and minimal spotting/haze. Given the relative ease of assembling a set of these in either MS or PR (with the exception of the infamous 1913), it's interesting that there doesn't seem to be a ton of interest in them. Post one of yours to show how nice this series can be!

That’s a beautiful coin and series. Congratulations

I like the V nickels and have a couple...raw, no tarnish (surprise, surprise). Cheers, RickO
This is my only mint state one. I have a bunch in AG/G for fun, though. This is my wife’s favorite design overall with the type 3 gold dollar being her second favorite.

Nice. That one has an attractive golden tint.

My highest graded, PCGS MS65+.
Started a registry set, trying to build it from hunting raw ones and slabbing, but stalled for now.

Some collectors have been calling them underrated for decades. The sad truth is that they are just not a popular series and are likely to stay that way.
I have 2 or 3 (hundred) laying around the house.

Now I see where the inspiration for the “spaghetti hair Washington” comes from! I bought a few dozen low grade libniks at the coin club auction and spent all of them!
Lol. Awesome coin, Joe. You never cease to amaze me with your dazzling specimens. Lol.

PF coins of the series are readily available. I used to collect business strikes in MS 66. Have 20 of them. Gave up. Do not like most of the ones I've seen graded in the last 4-5 years at this level. Pops have exploded for all coins in this grade, and prices have cratered. Generally speaking, I think coins graded more than 5 years ago appear to my eye to be nicer for the grade than those graded more recently.
The problem is that they're all in the same holder. There's a huge range of quality for the 12 S in this grade, and a wide spread in prices as a result.

DANG those are some fanominal ones.
This is from my type set. It is the only Liberty Nickel that I have in mint state. This specimen is from the Eliasberg Collection

Here are some I put together years ago in a Capital holder.
I have always liked this one:

The grade on your coin is probably the toughest to find.
Putting together a problem free VF/XF set is quite challenging.
This is likely true but what I don't understand is that these coins are very similar to Barber coins, which are rabidly sought and these are not.

Owned this at one time, but traded it for a Buff. An NGC MS64.

While there are some attractive coins presented in this thread, I just can’t get excited about the design. However, there are some patterns for this series that attract and intrigue me. 🤔😊
These are what I like to see in my sets.

My only proof - looks nice for a PR64 IMO
I'm not a huge fan of the series but I've been looking for a nice cameo. In the meantime, I picked up this one for type. Recently imaged by Todd (@blu62vette)
