@SkyMan said: @MWallace. 1862 as per my above post is out of line. We are looking either for @Fred to have a chance to post his 1857 or anybody else can step in with an 1858, and then we'd progress in the normal way... 1859, 1860, 1861 and then 1862.
Whaaaaaaat? Looks like an 1861 before my post.
Eldorado9 was not following the rules of the thread. Look in the post just above the 1855 and you will see the rules of the thread clearly restated that ONLY one coin per poster per day.
I don't know what you're talking about. My coin is the ONLY coin I posted in this thread. Sorry I broke "THE RULES". My 1862 came after an 1861. I don't appreciate being called out in public. I'll say no more. You can have the last word if you wish.
You did NOT screw up!!! I'm NOT saying you shouldn't post!!! If you felt that I was calling you out in public, that was NOT my intention and I apologize. I'm saying that Eldorado9 over posted the thread. YOU are fine!!! We just need to get there one coin at a time per poster per day.
Lets not screw up this fantastic thread. I think that if you have the following year and others thereafter, that your first coin should be in sucession from the last post. The next post can still follow your first coin. And it would be nice if the coins were owned. Thats what makes the thread unique!

Might be a good idea if any coin posted actually belonged to the poster. Anyone can post pictures of other peoples coins, as in auctions etc.
I agree, except for very rare dates, of which there are none from 1858 onwards, the coin you post should be owned by you.
(I'm all good getting skipped for 1857. Technically you can look to the left and see my 1857, just not a great photo of it - let's just keep the thread moving for everyone else's enjoyment!)

@SkyMan said: @Fred , @Eldorado9 has clearly abused the rules of the thread, which were restated just two posts above his first post. His only coin of the day is 1856. @koynekwest was correct in posting 1857. Given that, Fred, feel free to post another 1857. Then we move on to 1858, which I could do with multiple high grade Types, but given that I've already posted one coin today I am not going to.
Apologies...Not intentional at all. Just saw the title and posted a bunch of coins. I'll watch the rules closer next time.

BTW, I love the basic idea around the thread. You got me thinking about a 1892-1915 and limited only to Barber coins. That would be a popular one I think.

Yeah, It’s a J-450 pattern and the close-up photos are from from GreatCollections. I think the photos are pretty spot on to what it looks like in hand. One of my favorites!

For 1871. In addition to the decimal coinage pesos, cap and rays 8 reales were minted at the Alamos, Chihuahua and Hermosillo mints. A special year for me, my -100 year birth coins. Here is a Zacatecas mint peso and a Chihuahua mint 8R. I'll add in a wildly cracked up 25 centavos for some fun.

@cecropiamoth , Congratulations! It’s so amazing that in 1871 you turned 100 years old, showing us coins minted that year which helped celebrate your 100 year birth. Shortly you’ll be 260 years old. God bless you, you old geezer! 😂
Edited to correctly show soon to be 250 years old, not 260 years, as @cecropiamoth correctly points out below. I guess my math is not so sharp the moment I wake up, lol.

Easy there @winesteven only 250!!! I probably said it in an awkward way, but as a 1971 baby, I'll be hitting the BIG 5 0 next year!! Gosh I miss my youth!!

Both this and the one covering dates from 1900-1999 are excellent threads IMO. Maybe you could repeat them from time to time.
