I love a good MS64 Morgan!

For my money, MS54 is the sweet spot grade for sharp looking Morgans.
They're relatively cheap and normally found with much less distracting chatter than a 63...

That is a sweet looking MS54
Looks 65 to me.
Very attractive dollar, this is the only 64 I have that I have a photo of at this time.

Totally agree. MS64 seems to be a transitional grade. Their condition seems to run the gamut but there are often some sleepers available at a reasonable price. I have an offer in with my LCS for seven MS64's right now, including this one:
Great 64s fellas! Here’s a couple of mine.
64 is the minimum grade I can really accept these days with a few exceptions. This is not an exception.

I agree... MS64 is an excellent grade for Morgans.... and a reasonable price range for the most part. Cheers, RickO
Agree 100%. Broad range of quality within any grade...but I’ve seen plenty of Morgans graded 64 that look world’s away from what you often see in 63 holders. This was my ideal grade for better dates when I was putting my set together.
Here’s one of the few I still own. It was purchased raw over 30 years ago (as Ch. Unc. from Stack’s in NYC) and was one of my very first submissions to PCGS when I got back into the hobby...

Nice lookin Morgan! I have seen others that toned in the holder where it said "White".
That's a nice one!
@Meltdown That is a great strike. Reverse looks at least 65. Beautiful coin.

Totally agree. Great toning and a very strong strike for a New Orleans Morgan.
I can dig it.
Maybe it's their size, but I think the mid-range uncirculated Morgans have about the biggest step quality between grades as you'll find. Below 63, it really takes a lot of chatter to earn the grade, and I usually don't like them. 63s can be hit or miss. At 64, I agree with you, a lot of the heavy chatter is gone. Then you get to 65 and the coin is all of a sudden pretty clean. 66 earns you a cheek that may be pristine. There's a different jump in quality for each grade to the next, but certainly for the small increase in cost, 64s offer a lot.
I'm too lazy to confirm which of my Morgans are 64s (the pictures are what are handy), so while I have others, here's a quick one. I bought it for the doily, but the quality didn't hurt.

Yep ditto, looks 65 to me. The OP's not any in the replies. Congrats!

I'm seeing a lot of older holders here.

I've had this one for years. Is it better than 64? Dunno. But not worth the cost to upgrade.
Lance.
Hard to determine the luster from the pictures but the fields and devices are certainly very clean. Would it be worth the cost of submission if it came back a 66? It is cleaner than many 66's I've seen. Nice Morgan.
Was in a NGC 64 holder, cracked out because the holder was really scuffed up and impossible to image.
Pretty dang clean for a 4.
Nice Morgans everyone!

With lower prices lately, 65’s are on my radar, but I agree, 64’s can be VERY nice:

This one just made the 64 quality cut for me when I purchased it... a few scuffs here and there with a nearly hidden cut on the eagle breast... It was cheap and I love the vibrant blue edges. Old, small Anacs holder.

I have a bunch of these as well, all in old green PCI holders. They must have started toning soon after holdering and maybe people complained to PCI so they started adding the % of "white" on the label to absolve themselves when the ugly tarnish appeared

Common date Morgans in MS64 are cheap because they are so common, and they always will be.
Thank you captain obvious, you are correct.
Here's my last MS64 Morgan to share.

I used to target MS64 for my Morgans as well. Here is one of my favorites in that grade:
Holy crap Alan! That is a nice one - somehow I don't think it sells for 64 money.
