2020 Jefferson nickel...
Recently, when I visited my bank. I requested a box of Nickels. They would only oblige me with 40 rolls. So I said, ok. After coming back from the vault. I seen they had all the rolls In trays to be clearly seen. Right away I noticed that all the rolls were the new 2020! I was disappointed, usually when I ask for rolls of nickels they never are all new ones. Until now. I did not have the heart to say to them forget it. I didn't want to anger them in any way. Lol. I was going to dump them at another branch but decided to take them home regardless and seek for a near flawless one. Well, hopefully I did? Here it is. Whatcha guy's think? I only see one hit on the entire coin. At least one hit that would be considered a mark against the condition.

That's a nice looking one. I don't think I've seen a 2020 nickel yet, in person.
What's above the dome and on his chin and cheek? I can't tell if they're marks or what from the pics.
Did you go through all 40 rolls?
MS66FS, and if that's the only flaw you see you need to get your eyes checked!!
Agree with above.
That is a very decent example, but "one hit" short of flawless?
What about on his face, to the right of his face, and above Minticello?
And that's just the stuff I can see from a photo....
Chatter in his hair, above the forehead, as well as the above comments. Plus isn't that a hit above his right eye?

I suppose you guy's are right? Does the coin have to be totally clear of any sign of hits/nics to be considered a high, high grade? I always thought they give you some leeway? Thanks

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line. Not exactly. I went through them briefly.
Besides, this was before I bought a box of cents. Still going through the cents.

I have yet to find a flawless nickel. Lots of cents, dimes and quarters tho.
I too think it is a nice example, but not beyond a 66 FS. Too many marks on the obverse (nose area in particular). I would suggest buying a couple of 66 and 67 FS examples so that you can see the differences between them. May save you more money in the long run!

I stopped counting at 30 flaws on this flawless coin, and I didn't even get to the reverse.
for those of you that haven't yet, click on that coinfacts link i posted.
by those standards, if the coin in the OP is even close to accurate, it is around ms67/68fs.

WoW! Yes, you may be right? Their MS 67 FS has many, many hits/nics on the obverse alone! Probably even MORE than my obverse has? WoW! Thanks

Joey, It's a nice coin, but maybe considering the real difference between flawless and what is considered Gem at MS65 should be considered carefully if you are going to hunt for, and maybe submit this material.
A 5 isn't worth the fees, and maybe not the storage and opportunity cost. Neither is a 6 probably. Maybe a 7 or 8 is.
Flawless, by definition is perfect, and would be a lock 70, as there would be no marks whatsoever and no luster disturbances. Almost impossible, especially for a production run and rolled coin. I have owned a couple and seen many that could be considered flawless with a 5x loop, but they were collector runs, with careful handling throughout their time from die to package to slab. Sterile.
Getting that top grade (69/70) has some leeway to absolutely "flawless" for sure, but not even at the number of marks and luster disturbances your coin exhibits.
The combination of those two items (marks and luster disturbances) is what Jeremy @airplanenut is counting, I am sure, as I can also count upwards of 20 on the obverse and 10 on the reverse without trying hard. You saw flawless and some of us look and roll our collective eyeballs.
Does that make it less than what the industry slabs and cites as "Gem"? No, I think that coin might grade 65 or 66. But it's a FAR cry from what most of us would accept as Superb 67 / 68 or Flawless 69 / 70, at least in my opinion.
You'll need to look at every square mm of luster and surface to start to understand the differences. On every coin. Every time. After a while, you might be able to understand 1 or 2 point grading differences, maybe.
Last thought ... a thread I keep meaning to write ...
If it was easy dude, everybody would do it.

Here are pics of MS coins from PCGS. It's always good to study as many high grade pieces as possible to get an understanding of what types of defects are characteristic for each grade. You also need to remember that the grading services make mistakes, so don't be fooled by outliers if your buying or sending it in.

Definitely many flaws on obverse and reverse....I agree with @airplanenut and @pursuitofliberty. Your coin may hit 65....Good luck with your cent search. Cheers, RickO
