Coin improves while in the holder!!!

Coin magically improves while in the PCGS holder and gains 50% (nearly $1K) in value!

Look at this. Make sure you read the serial number and the words in the ad.

Now look at this. Make sure to look at the serial number and read the ad.

I was on the fence about the validity of paying a premium for stickers but not any more. No doubt sticker investment is a smart move for collectors, lol!

There are plenty of sellers who mark their coins up substantially, regardless of whether they are stickered.

@EScott83.... You reference a specific coin... but no link. Markups happen. ;) Cheers, RickO

Rick, each “this” is a link that can be clicked to view the coin.

Just because it's BIN is higher, does not indicate it will sell at that price.

    I'm not seeing anything unusual.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

All that matters is what it ultimately sells for.

The surprising thing to me is that, as much of a CAC cheerleader as Laura is, Legend Auctions didn't send that coin to CAC before auctioning. Should have brought more money to the consignor.

@MFeld .... Thanks Mark, I missed that detail.... :p Cheers, RickO

I thought Legend sent everything to CAC — that is, I assumed that if they offered a coin for auction that isn’t CAC’d, then the coin did not pass at CAC. That must be an incorrect assumption.

As for non-auctions, it seems that they ONLY offer CAC’d coins for sale on their website.

@SeattleSlammer The wording in the "LOT" on the first link makes it sound like it was sent to CAC. Perhaps it only later got the green bean on second send-in

I'm not sure this is the best example of the CAC premium. We're looking at a relatively esoteric variety which was first listed by a seller known for their high-end classic coins. This is not the kind of coin I'd think of when thinking about Legend or their auctions. On the other hand, setting up a search on eBay to find a tough variety is easy enough, and even if there are no hits for months on end, eventually something may turn up. Yes the seller made a hefty profit, but beyond getting the coin stickered, I think the venue could be a significant reason why. Not every selling venue is the best option for every coin, even if it is the best option for a different coin.

The sticker makes a big play!
