Please help me report this guy...

Every coin he has is doctored. He is selling doctored coins under the auspice that they toned at a vineyard in Lake Erie.
He is comparing the toning to PCGS ms 66 toned coins (in the pictures with the walkers).
Absolutely deceptive, coin doctoring... Ripping people off.

He puts retired USMC as an added bonus in his scam so people will trust him

Looks to me like he stored the Walkers IN THE WINE. I am not even close to being an expert, but even I know this isn't natural toning.

  • From the ad:

I accidentally discovered the toning is natural for the storage conditions which are very unique

I do not guarantee that the toned coins will be graded as natural and can not give refunds for this reason

I thought storage in a bag of sulfur would be good.

Report him, based on violation of what EBay policy?

This guy has some really grotesque stuff. There's at least a dozen of these clowns peddling this artificially toned garbage. I just had trouble getting a full refund out of one of them. I'm willing to pay a few bucks for well done AT coins but this was a bait and switch. The coin I received looked nothing like this image.

Here's the original listing if anyone is interested. He has dozens of AT garbage.

They aren't counterfeit though. His ad specifically states he won't guarantee the coins will straight grade.

When you scroll through the pictures of the Walkers he has a MS66 toned Walker True view as a comparison of the toning.

This is about trying to save the people buying coins from him thinking they are getting something more than a turd.

If seller were upfront he would say I rubbed these coins with chemicals and baked them in order to get this fake toning. That is being upfront.

If absolute honesty was the standard for all ebay and coin dealers...would not be too many coins sold

I just noticed he says he is a member of ANA... Who at ANA can I talk to about this?
What are ANACS, NGC and PCGS collectors club? Do these exist?

I understand and appreciate your motive. And I’ve reported my fair share of listings over a long period of time.
But from EBay’s perspective, I’m not aware of any valid reason that he can be reported.

It does not mean I am not going to try like hell.. I have reported 30+ of his listings. If he did not include the TrueView of a MS66 toned Walker I think I would have less of a problem. Then claiming to be a member of bogus groups.. I just find it disgusting!
I got my start by having a collection betrothed to me... In the collection was an 1885 V nickel and a really nice 1921 SLQ. I was broke and I was struggling so I went to a dealer in the Chicago area and he bought the 1921 SLQ for 25$ from me. At the time I was like WOW.... Weeks later when I was in Evanston talking to the dealer there we were discussing some of the other coins and the dealer told me how bad I was ripped off. It left a very very bad taste in my mouth... So when I see egregious attempt to defraud like this I say something. People like this are lower than low.

Anyway... Dude makes up a coackamamie story about the coins toning because of their proximity to wine barrels shows his ignorance with both coin toning and wine.

    Enough from me..

Everyone have a safe and happy Labor day weekend!

The PCGS "collectors club" DOES exist. See: https://www.pcgs.com/join

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I joined the "club" for direct submission privileges.

    @Relaxn

I apologize for the timing of my 4:12PM post. In short, I responded to your 3:48 question BEFORE I read your 4:08PM post.

While the PCGS "collectors club" does not appear to be bogus, it is by no means 'exclusive'. Unless I am mistaken, anyone that pays is 'in'. So, IMHO, its inclusion is more marketing than substance.

Well, I do not have barrels of wine in my 'cellar', I have consumed some wine in proximity to my coins... I have not observed any colorful tarnish manifesting on copper or silver....Even when breathing on them during close observations... :D I am sure the excellent Cabernet I am partial to, would, if possible, result in truly impressive colors. :D;) Cheers, RickO
