What's the consistency of that '54 Yankees sheet? Is pasteboard, like the real cards were or is it more like the feel of the rest of the pages of the magazine?

I would say the stock is right in between that of real card stock and older magazine page stock. Not easily tearable but not cardboard either. Probably comparable to the "renewal inserts" that you find in middle of magazines.
eta: while psa doesn't grade it (yet) and there is zero reason why they shouldn't per their rules, it's one of my fav mick cards. not too many cards exhibit the old school drop down bunt pose:
Whoa! That is so cool they have one of the 1933 Goudey Ruths depicted in the article! Never saw that before! And yes the design they did for Mantle in ‘’54 would have looked amazing on an actual card.

that '54 topps mantle in the full si yankee team sheet:
1976 Topps Traded Reggie Jackson (on the Orioles)
1972 O-Pee-Chee Steve Garvey
1977 O-Pee-Chee Andre Dawson (and pictured by himself)
1972 Topps 'Traded' Nolan Ryan (Angels)
1992 Topps Traded Mike Piazza
1993 Topps Finest Derek Jeter
1993 Topps Traded Alex Rodriguez (on Team USA)
1978 Topps Joe Namath (on the Rams)
1983 Topps Traded Don Mattingly
1985 Topps Will Clark (Team USA subset)
1985 Topps Barry Larkin (Team USA subset)
1967 Topps Sandy Koufax
1980 Topps Thurman Munson In Memoriam
1964 Topps John Paciorek
1952 Topps Eddie Gaedel (include in the high series)
1948 Leaf Pete Gray
I also wish more of the big time rookies had the OPC treatment: 67 Carew and Seaver. 69 Reggie, 77 dawson, 78 Molitor, 80 Henderson, 82 ripken, 83 Boggs, 85 McGwire and 85 Clemens.
This one is unforgivable to me. There should have been a set with Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle together and these two sets were seemingly the best shot there was.
A 1951 set with Willie, Mickey, Duke Ted and Joe (among many others) doesn’t exist; It’s a crime against baseball card history with the especially culpable 1951 Bowman set.
I’m sure it was held up because Joe wanted $50,000 or something.

Love the Slip Jim discs, I had a couple from when I was a kid. The set was pretty weak for star power. those would have been awesome.
The oddball sets in the 70s/80s were missing a lot of good players. Kelloggs/Hostess/MSA/Stop n Go/Slim Jims/Holsum/etc. The lack of more really cool 70s to early 80s basketball oddball is terrible too.
I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
Here's a few that I think could have been cool.
1988 Topps Edgar Martinez Future Star
1987 Topps Fred McGriff Future Star
1987/1988/1989 Topps Kevin Brown Future Star
1969 or 1970 Topps Ted Simmons

1981 Topps J.R. Richard w/All Star designation

This topic has come up quite a lot over the years including by me in this very thread but I really wish Topps would have included the AS designation on the 75 Reggie, 78 Zisk, and 79 Patek. I still don't understand why they didn't. **A 75 Jackson AS card would have been awesome! **Does anyone know why Topps omitted the designation?

Agree. It would've changed the landscape of 80s releases, values of the sets would be widely different, with the 80 and 81 years flipping in value for sure, and just one of the big QBs from 84 making the 83 year bigger. If Bo made the 86 cut, can you imagine how much more demand would occur on that year in terms of collectibility? That is a tougher year as it is to find product.
Fun to imagine for sure.

A 76 Traded Reggie on O's would be cool.
There's a custom made one on Ebay that does look good.
I actually bought a custom 75 Reggie AS card from the guy that I thought looked cool.
That's not a Traded card.
Oh I know. I was just sharing a card of Reggie in an Orioles uniform for fun. I am familiar with the 76 Topps Traded cards.
If I had to pick one, I'm leaning more towards the 75.
