How many keys have you jingled ?

Through the course of a lifetime , in almost every series , there is a key or key date coin that often eludes the majority of us; as collecting and assembling go.
Some have been fortunate enough to deal and handle numerous. Thankfully I have jingled a great many.
That said, the question is simple.
1 Cheerios Sacajawea. (Held ten years )
2 A few Morgan $s but never a '95 Proof
3 1909--S VDB Lincoln Cent ( a few)
The list is long , so share some you have jingled. (Dealt, handled, collected, swapped, traded )

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
LIKE= key I've had or still have on the key ring.
Agree= A key I've yet to hold
Have-1913 3 1/2 legged Buff AU53 (cherrypicked); 1916/16 VG08; 1918-D 8/7 Good06; 1936-D 3 1/2 legged VF20; 1937-D 3 legged MS62.
Had-1913 3 1/2 legged MS64 (cherrypicked); 1916/16 VF20; around a dozen 1918-D 8/7 cherried from 1962 until a couple of years ago; two 1936-D 3 1/2 legged both fine and both cherried; a cherried 1937-D 3 leg in VF and several Buff proofs also cherried; too many misc doubled dies from cents thru dollars to list, nearly all cherried. I wish I still had the 16/16.
25 of 26 early Walkers.
All are tough, especially, in choice to near gem.
I still have them all.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I'm the Texas rep for ANACS, and take submissions at shows. I've had a lot of coins come by the table, not all submitted to us, but still memorable:
1- Too many 1909-S VDB's to count.
2- A Cheerios Sac in the original packaging, with the obverse die marker.
3- A red uncirculated 1969-S Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln cent that I called MS64 RED. The owner didn't submit it to us but stopped by the next day to show it to me in its NGC MS65 Red holder.
4- A Texas Jola
5- Too many 1916-D Mercury dimes to count
6- Too many 1937-D 3-Leg buffalos to count
7- 2009-D DC Duke Ellington Doubled Die Reverse quarter
8- 1999 Close AM Lincoln cent
9- Too many 1955 Doubled Die Lincolns to count
10- 1889-CC Morgan MS62 DMPL in one of our old white holders.
11- A Robbins medal from one of the Skylab missions
12- 1957-D Washington Quarter with hand-engraved tailfeathers
13- 1976-D Doubled Die Washington Quarter
14- 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter we later graded at MS63 FH
I'm sure I'll think of some more but these are the ones that stand out in my memory.
1804 large cent
1901 S & 1913 S quarters
1795 Lettered Edge Liberty cap cent in AU-55 would be the nearest to a US key for me.
Zero. I find most keys to be faux rarities that offer little interest
Latin American Collection
1955 Doubled die.
Have: 1889CC Morgan.
Had: None

I have bought and sold hundreds of them, G04 to MS66. My mentor when I was first started setting up at shows, a fellow coin club member and my realtor was a Peace Dollar specialist who also did better date coins in other series. The Peace Dollar series has many tough dates the 1934-S my favorite. As a matter of fact I sold a 1891-cc $10 Lib Anacs 61 at my first show (doing well) in 1990 (Houston) bought from him at a coin club meeting. Perhaps not a key date but certainly a better date. It was a learning experience - if you have the only one in the room your in the drivers seat.
Another fav is the 1913 Barber Half. Always on lookout for these G04 and above. Frankly if one gets rid of all their generics to just focus on better dates that’s not a bad move.
So you guys who don't have or do keys because of a lack of interest or faux rarities..... one question: Is your collection (series) incomplete because you won't fill the hole ? Or ?
1) 1914 d
2) 1955 double die
ive seen a 1856 flying eagle cent ms 62 brown if that some what counts
Zero...But I look at them a lot
My Saint Set
I don’t have any keys (other than my ‘89CC) because of the high cost of them. I was able to acquire the ‘89CC at an ridiculous price raw which then I got it graded. Other than the Indian quarter eagle set my dad and I are working on which there are holes still, I don’t collect a series specifically and buy what I like and enjoy. If you do look at what I have it is possible to call it as sort of a type set.

I have a few but this one is my favorite.
I like the 1913 Barber Half too:
Here's another from my primary collection.
Beautiful coins, fellow coin folk.
Here are three (16-D, '21, and '21-D ) in a folder from the old days.
Who wants to break up a happy family ?
I have many unique examples (CWT & Cal Fractional) none of which I would consider "keys" and yet ... I have the only one. I tend to agree with @Boosibri regarding the "keys" of most series.
Top 10 Cal Fractional Type Set
successful BST with Ankurj, BigAl, Bullsitter, CommemKing, DCW(7), Downtown1974, Elmerfusterpuck, Joelewis, Mach1ne, Minuteman810430, Modcrewman, Nankraut, Nederveit2, Philographer(5), Realgator, Silverpop, SurfinxHI, TomB and Yorkshireman(3)
How many keys have you jingled??
I'm not sure if the area(s) I collect in have keys per se, but I have owned/still own some highest graded R-7/R-8 medals and also have owned/still own some medals with less than 20 known. I have also had medals with a Type design that might include 20-30 pcs. in all planchet alloys, but none others seen in Silver except the one I was fortunate enough to own for awhile. our Hobby is peculiar in a weird way, something really needs to be "popular" in order to be really, really valuable. it doesn't matter that something is one of less than 10 known with a superlative design and all the attributes that collectors say they like. without a large, popular following it will languish in value.
but those "rare" 1909-S VDB's in MS64 will beat it every time, because.......................they are popular.

Agreed, Instead of spending a large amount of money on a low grade key date I’d rather spend the same or less on a high grade common date.
Have:
1909 S VDB, 1955 DDO, 1914-D
1916-D, 1942/1
1911-D Quarter Eagle Indian
Had/Sold:
1853/4 Seated Liberty Quarter
3
1909 S vdb
1921 D liberty walking
2019 S enhanced reverse proof
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Some, but not too many. Most might more be semi-key. I own:
1864 Small motto 2c
1921 Merc
1921 Walker
1909 VDB
1909 S Lincoln
1914 D Lincoln
1913 D T2 Buffalo
1914 D Buffalo
1932 D and S Washington
My uncle had/has probably all the key Morgans and I saw all of them as a kid. Also the ‘55 DDO Lincoln and I’m sure many others I wish I could remember.
Beyond my own ownership, the list is probably way too long just because I frequently take advantage of LOT VIEWING for major auctions at shows etc. It is a fantastic form of education!
