Libertas Americana. Good or no good?

Took a chance at a pig in poke in a local flea market, thinking it might be silver but it is not marked. Not the end of the world if it’s just a bad fake. On a closer look maybe just plated.

I dont know about Silver or not, but it indeed is a bad fake If you compare to an original, you can see this is a different engraving.
It doesn't look quite right? But....if the price was right and you like it who cares? I would have bought it.....just because.
Unfortunately it’s a bad fake, and there are so many of them out there. They come with fake
toning too.

This is most definitely not silver. Struck in tin as a novelty item. Hopefully you did not pay much for your adventure

I lost a dollar. I though there might be an outside chance is was a restrike of some kind. We’ll get em next time.
You didn't take a chance, you burned your money.

Wow! The man burned through ONE whole dollar! For nothing. What a shame. Money and reputation shot! He must feel like a fool. Maybe we should start up a GoFundMe account for the poor sucker. Just to recover his losses if for nothing else. If everyone would pledge 1¢ or even maybe 5¢ by the end of the day I'm sure we would have enough to get him back up on his feet.......financially that is.
It would have cost the op more to buy one from China. So it wasn't that bad of a purchase for $1.

Looks like a match for the 3rd and 4th photos.
I demand a refund of my GoFundMe donation. Gave half a cent and I demand an exact change refund in physical coin.

Hey, DNAdavey, you think you got ripped? I got you beat seven ways to Sunday in that department. Just the other day.....Here's what went down........You see, Im always on the lookout for the elusive 1982D large date double die zinc penny parking lot find in ms67+. So there I was very, very early Friday morning at the local Stop 'n Go. Heading in for some smokes, a 12 pack, and a quart of Johnny Walker Red. I looked down and there was what appeared to be THREE or FOUR pennies. Turned out there was actually only one. Just as I was bending over to pick them or it up, some little kid ran over and snagged 'em. I was just a little bit more than upset at that point. "Hey," I said, " Give 'em back! I was here first! " "I saw it first, finders keepers." was what I think he said. Anyway, that's when I found out there was only one penny. The little brat told me so. "Hey look, I'll give you 10¢ for it or them." I told him. " No way mister! " I upped it to a quarter and it was a done deal. So....after I found my way back to the ranch, (That's a whole 'nother story. Don't have time here for all the details.), soaked my head in a bucket of ice water, took a long cold shower, and slammed down 4 or 5 cups of java (I can't actually remember how many. Who knows? Might have been more but that's not important.), I got out the old 20x loupe to have a looksee. Took quite some time to get the focus just right on the date. After awhile I figured out it was just a corroded 2006 dime. What a let down. So.......I got had. By 6 yearold. But.......it wasn't that bad because I only paid the little creep 1 1/2 over face. Way better than my first offers when the negotiations started. Even though it turned out that there was only 1 penny instead of 4 pennies like I first thought. At least the little guy was honest about that part. I came out of it o.k. Lesson learned. I think? What I don't understand about the whole thing though is this...........WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT KID DOING RUNNING AROUND AT 4 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING!?
Most of these are some species of fake, whether restrike, tribute, replica, advertising, bullion, pot metal, shovel steel....

Clearly not a real Libertas....or silver....I am always surprised at what coins are reported here as found at flea markets. I rarely see coins at flea markets, (only one in January each year, has one table) never at yard sales. I guess I should get out more, and farther afield as well..... Cheers, RickO
