Both coins were submitted in holders for crossover, the 1917 in an NGC prong style, the 1929-D in a small, white ANACS holder. I purchased the 1917 in December of 2014 and the 1929-D shortly after that. When I submitted them I was pretty confident that they'd both cross, both are nicely toned and clean, although the reverses tend to show the light rub and central luster breaks. Thanks to everyone who participated and commented.

You're right but I bet they gave the first one a MS grade

MS62 for the '17
AU58 for the '29
Nice
That’s funny, because I was thinking that the second one looked closer to MS.

I’m not at all confident in these guesses, but I’ll go with a pair of 64’s.

64 and 63.
A couple of beautiful WLHs! As others have said, either could grade anywhere from 58-64.

63 (if that's a scratch on the 1917's mid-obverse?; otherwise a 64)

I see no limiting factors on these coins, toning, originality and probably top notch luster. Hard to guess without in hand inspection.

58's/AU 63's.
The gash on the 17 is detracting.
The 29-d looks dipped and retoned... I am not a fan.

thank you, Mark. the 1917 especially looked nice when I first saw it and those little ANACS holders just draw me in for a closer look.
Thumbs up Al because you have thumbs!
Good eye Al... Nice crosses.... I really like the WLH... one of the last great U.S. coin designs....Cheers, RickO
Amazing coins for the simple AU grade. I'd rather have those than MS63s.
Excellent 58s.
Missed this, Beautiful...
