Within the search history there are very few if any 1963 dated coins shown here. Lots of 1964- yet 1963 is severely lacking. Why? If you own a 1963 coin please show it off! I don't know what it is about that year that has people ashamed to collect those dated coins.

There is nothing to be ashamed of. Within the U.S. series, there are no well-known coins that excite collectors. You have to remember that there are just five coins, from cent to half dollar.
I wasn't keeping track.
I would tend to agree with above - there wasn't much going on numismatically in the early 1960s. High montages, no exciting varieties.
1963 was the height of the early 60's coin collecting boom. Coins of that year were saved in large quantities by the roll and bag speculators. Nothing from that year is generates much collector excitement or interest.
DDO
The only interesting coin from that year, in my humble view, is the last year of the Franklin half dollar.
I agree.
1963 is a tough date in the Roosevelt dime series in terms of high grade, full bands, and pretty toning. Here's one of a few I own, graded MS66+:
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Hey,it's my birth year.Couple of full rolls 63 and 63D.
Junior in HS, chasing girls, not doing coins during that period of my life.....Good year though!

Well, there’s more 1963s than 1965s.
In my opinion much the 60's coinage was poorly produced and mostly boring as the designs has shifted to all lackluster designs. You find a few interesting coins now and again but for the most part a very forgettable timeframe coin wise.

No 1963.
1963 was the year I got out of the Navy.... Young fellow, full of piss and vinegar, one daughter, one on the way...No coins in my pocket - due to income having many other destinations. Cheers, RickO
Not a ton to choose from in my collection. It’s nothing personal
Here's my 1963 proof set:
And a few toned examples I've put together:

The toning makes it much more interesting IMO

I love 1963. Some good varieties exist, such as this DDO 1963 quarter.
Why are so few coins dated 1963 shown on this forum
Because I do not have one, the closest I have is 1863 [ four three out five four digits in the dates match]
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
The only 1963 I have.
Later, Paul.
Used to be mine until it upgraded to a top pop and was sold to a top registry set.

Great variety....and one which has successfully eluded me....despite looking through many many rolls and 2 bags....
I am about giving up on finding one and may have to brush the cobwebs out of my wallet and buy one.
Damn it!
What am I missing? I know I'm tired but 4 outta 5 digits in the date match? Wha......??
Nice coin BTW!!
I went through many rolls also and never found one. I picked this one up about 10 years ago. I couldn't pass it up for $8 in MS-64 Red. If you look for one make sure to get one that shows the tail below the 3 if it doesn't show the tail it is not worth as much.
There's some very nice DDR Roosies dated 1963, both proof and circulation strikes. One of the best is this one, a Die #9 DDR proof. Images courtesy of varietyvista. In my opinion 1963 is a noteworthy year for US coinage.
Helluva deal for $8!
What a bunch of SNOBS on these boards!!! Nothing to collect??? Last I heard tell, there were coins minted this year. Yes, there were lots of them minted, and the designs are not the best designs that ever were produced by the US Mint. MOST designs produced by the US mint from the late 1700's to the present WEREN'T the best designs, yet everybody has a favorite design.
I'll be the first to admit that none of the 5 coin designs from 1963 are my favorite designs, yet each of them is appealing in their own way. I do like Franklins, and some of the most glorious cameo proof Franklins were produced during 1963. The other 4 series also look quite attractive IMO when they have toned up nicely (as do the business strike Franklins).
Here are a couple examples...

1963's in copper can be unusually attractive........
Silver not so much........more aging needed.

High grade DCAM proof 1963 half dollars are a type collector's dream coin because they are of such high quality with knock out eye appeal.
1963 MS67 Red cents are extremely hard to find and are gorgeous.
I like 1963, for that was when I started collecting coins.
check your bank balance and then strap in, the coin shown below will be on the block at Stack's in a few hours. the bidding should be spirited!!
before anyone says anything about the Bell Lines or grade, it has a CAC sticker.
