Great stuff everyone. Here are my recent additions.
I am not a big baseball collector. But I do like greatness and Trout seems pretty great. I sold my Update PSA 10 recently and decided to go for some more affordable replacements. I have liked Rookie Cup cards since opening my first packs of 1987 Topps. So picking up variations of this card in 10 seems like a fun project. This is my start.
I also recently got this Trout back from a submission.
In the same sub I got this Lebron card (speaking of great).
I may start a separate thread to chronicle my progress, but another new project of mine is picking up Topps Gold basketball cards. They are virtually impossible in PSA 10 and in some cases there are no 10's at all. Here are some of my recent higher graded additions. The Lebron below was mislabeled as a 2008 (it is 2007).
Oh yeah, these were pretty big pickups for the Gold collection...
Most of my additions are self sub but I have subbed this card on multiple occasions landing several 9s 8s and a few others never hitting that elusive dime. I finally just sacked up and bought one probably at least a year late but not planning on selling anytime soon.
Finally I joined the club
Edit to say l/r is not as poor as scan shows, holder edges it out a little.
i used to think this guy was nuttier than a fruitcake. his approach to his golf swing and career has always been about as unconventional as it gets. for example, all of his irons are the same length. very methodical, very analytical, very calculated. he factors in math and science more than feel and touch, and that's why he's dubbed the Mad Scientist.
then, he decided to pack on 40 lbs during the off/pandemic season drinking like 6 mega protein shakes/day. when golf fired back up he emerged looking like the Incredible Hulk. well, he now leads the tour in average driving distance @ 323 yards per and his ball speed reaches almost 200 mph.
but it's his results that has everyone, including moi, starting to view him in a different light. there is definitely a method to his madness. 7 top 10s in a row, including a win in Detroit a couple of weeks ago.
i'm a sucker for aesthetically pleasing promo cards, so when an acquaintance of mine on a FB page tossed this up for sale, i had to have it. he got DeChambeau to sign it at a PGA merchandise demo day in Orlando last year where he was doing a speaking event for Cobra/Puma.
and for your viewing pleasure, i included a recent clip where he hit driver-9 iron on a 571-yard par 5.........then dunked a putt for a routine eagle.

Nice score! Interesting, I thought all of these came pre-signed, but I had seen one other of the Bryson without an auto. I have yet to see a Lexi or any other subject without the sig. Thanks for sharing the back, I had been wondering if that one stated "Autograph Card" also.

@dustinspeaks - I have a bunch of PSA Authentic (non 10) auto grades in my collection. ROOKIES of Rodgers, Brady, Lebron, Durant, Curry and the list goes on. They don't all cut the mustard.
Here’s some fun, raw pickups that I finally got to scan in. I think they’re all aesthetically pleasing and represent an interesting mix of era and genre.
The first card is of an inner circle Baseball Hall of Famer. From what I’ve read, it was initially short printed and ultimately replaced with a different pose by around 1942. The tougher of the two poses - beginning his rookie year and ending in ‘1941- is presented in low grade below. Pinhole at the top and a heavy crease from center mid to right edge. It doesn’t bother me that someone loved this card for a long time before I did; despite flaws the central image is beautiful and unmarred.
These cards were long favorites of mine and not my first copies. I just really like them; the matched pair came from two recent pack rips (One in each pack) and the solo was a straight sale. They’re reasonably nice looking cards; maybe I’ll send them in one day but happy to have them in hand and scanned.

A huge thank you to James - these cards are amazing and I am excited to add them to my collection. Always loved the AS cards and the 61s get me to 26 left on my HOF set. James has great taste in cards and the MVPs really pop! I feel like I just got back from the National with adding all of these.
Brad, I'm glad that you like the cards. I'm glad I could pass them on to someone that really appreciates the cards.
Love the Exhibit Ted Williams. I've got one at PSA now awaiting grading, but it is the more common variation. I also have the Gehrig and the DiMaggio there.

Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
Joe Louis Magic Sport card, it features a picture of Joe Louis and I believe Jersey Joe Walcott. It's Extremely difficult to find these. Since it's coming from Italy, I'll see you in September Joe!
2014 Panini Golden Age First Fifty Joe Louis. I've been looking for this card for a while and it just popped up on Ebay. It is numbered to 50, and rarely surfaces.
One towards my '61 HOF set and the Gibson because I really liked the card.
Brad - great ‘65 Gibby! And when you get a card from @jfkheat you just automatically know it’s gorgeous. I’d buy from James sight unseen; one of the best set of eyes in the hobby.

There are numerous posed shots sprinkled throughout the late 60s with players wearing a batting glove. I found this one of Nate Oliver rather quickly.
I think Ken Harrelson gets credit for being the first to actually wear them during a game, but I believe that was later debunked. Here's a Sports Illustrated cover with a photo of him in action. I have difficulty reading the date, but I believe it's 1968.

Some more 2000's basketball. I can't remember if I shared the Kobe yet, but if I did, it is worth another look, lol. It is my first 1/1. I also picked up this low serial number 2007 Topps Lebron card. This one is the Copper numbered to /50. In hand the top two corners of the Lebron look quite a bit better. The bottom left one is touched though.
This one was pretty cheap and this guy was pretty awesome when I was a kid! It's likely I'll end up putting together his basic Topps set if it exists in the registry.

Some of you will know how exciting this is as the last star in the set I needed and arguably the biggest star in the set. Suffice it to say, as a pursuer of rare sets, I’m struggling not to explode right now. The Cuban originated set is impossible (almost literally) to complete and contains some of the most popular athletes - retired and active - in the world at the time and amongst them some of baseball’s biggest luminaries. Simply put, this specific man is considered one of the greatest baseball players to ever play the game. As in people who saw all four play actually uttered the phrase,
“Keep Cobb, Ruth and DiMaggio...give me Dihigo.”
While he fell into a ‘heard the name’ category for most of my life, my pursuit of this set helped me discover the man known throughout the Cuban, Venezuelan and Negro Leagues simply as El Maestro (The Master). And perhaps that’s the perfect name for a guy who could hit, pitch and field at an elite level at 8 of 9 positions. If you never heard the name, I highly recommend you educate yourself on him; you won’t be disappointed. And in case you’re lazy, here’s a nice, quick career summary from his eponymous National Baseball Hall of Fame page:
“He was the best ballplayer of all time, black or white.” – Buck Leonard
His nickname said it all, in both English and his native Spanish.
El Maestro.
The Cuban-born Martín Dihigo debuted with the Cuban Stars of the Eastern Colored League in 1923 as an 18-year-old, light-hitting second baseman. Tall and thin, Dihigo would one day evoke comparisons with Joe DiMaggio for the style and grace he displayed on the ballfield.
Playing year-round – summers in the U.S. and winters in the Caribbean – Dihigo developed into a feared fastball hitter, but one with a weakness for curveballs.
“Don’t throw me any more fastballs,” he soon told his batting practice pitcher. “I can hit them like anything. Throw me curves.” With the determination that marked his entire career, Dihigo made himself into one of the game’s premier curveball hitters.
As he filled out, his natural athletic ability became increasingly obvious. Dihigo began playing more positions on the field. He eased over to shortstop, where his quickness made him a natural. With his cannon of a right arm, El Maestro also excelled in the outfield, where he delighted in throwing out players at the plate. He outperformed most third basemen, but he truly excelled as a pitcher. On the mound, Dihigo possessed both speed and control. In 1938, he threw the first no-hitter in the history of the Mexican League, hit over .300 and led the league in strikeouts.
The easygoing Dihigo became extremely popular with his teammates, at least in part because of his fluent English. He was extremely knowledgeable and willingly shared his vast store of baseball knowledge. He was soon called upon to be a player-manager; his feel for the game and his understanding of the players made him a star in that venue, as well.
In 1943, at the age of 38, Dihigo managed a team in the Dominican Republic that featured Johnny Mize, then a star for the New York Giants. Evaluating Dihigo, even at that age, Mize called him the greatest player he had ever seen. Finally, at 41, Dihigo hung up his spikes and retired to his native Cuba. By then, he had earned another nickname: El Inmortal – the Immortal One. In time, he was eventually inducted into the national Halls of Fame of Cuba, Mexico, and the United States, the only person to be so enshrined.
Cum Posed summed up Dihigo's career, saying: “(His) gifts afield have never been approached by any man – black or white.”
Dihigo passed away on May 20, 1971. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1977.
So for a set subtitled ‘Kings of Sport’ that contains some of baseball’s biggest names in history, for the kids who chased these cards when issued, this king stood above all others...
1946 Propagandas Montiel #39 Martin Dihigo
He came as part of a 25 card lot. Here’s 6 from the ‘First 100’ but I have yet to scan the others. Soon enough...

i used to think this guy was nuttier than a fruitcake. his approach to his golf swing and career has always been about as unconventional as it gets. for example, all of his irons are the same length. very methodical, very analytical, very calculated. he factors in math and science more than feel and touch, and that's why he's dubbed the Mad Scientist.
then, he decided to pack on 40 lbs during the off/pandemic season drinking like 6 mega protein shakes/day. when golf fired back up he emerged looking like the Incredible Hulk. well, he now leads the tour in average driving distance @ 323 yards per and his ball speed reaches almost 200 mph.
