Those pre-1933 $20 gold coins are simply awesome! It was the right time to buy 2-3 years ago. Now would be the time to do some profit taking. If it continues to go up, then a bit more profit taking can be done.

Interesting that GLD (paper gold) is leading physical gold here with a stronger break out......though in retracing the late 2011 secondary peaks.....physical gold is stronger.

Gold on month 54 since the Dec 2015 low ($1045) and 22 months since the August 2018 low ($1167). 21/22 and 55 month moves are pretty typical for gold and it's associates. And gold looks to be in the process now of retracing the strong August 2011 monthly candle stick (covered a range of 1608 to 1918). From a timing aspect, important monthly numbers being reached. The 21/22 month cycle has been very orderly in gold since 1999.

Yep all those double eagles and Apmex (necklace/jewelry) AGEs purchased during the eBay 10x bonus bucks periods of 2018 sure are looking good now. Will be hard to let them all go but as the saying goes: Buy low sell high.

The gold spouse coins will go down in history, besides being available at spot or below, as the worst attempt at trying to generate interest in a super-low mintage and super-unattractive series.
And no rush if you want to build a set!

I have two— the problem with building a set now is that you can get some really nice proof Walkers for $900.. that’s a tough sell for an unattractive coin even if it is gold.

Oh that comment was entirely tongue in cheek! I was trying to point out that regardless of your “Set” timing I believe the Uglies will be available at spot. Or less.
And there is certainly a subset that some people build, but not me. I divested myself of the ex’s.

Even the once "famous" 2009 UHR's are now going for minimal premiums to spot. The once "highly promoted" eventually fall hard. I still prefer the look and execution of the bigger coin - proof 1 oz. AGE's (1986-date).
