Simple.....I went with the All Time Hit Leader.....The HR Leader......Mr. Baseball (Williams).....and the best All Round Player Mays.

    Ruth was none of these.

Nope I have always liked Bonds, my stance has always been that he put himself on the same level playing field of his peers and was just better. Yep he was PED user just like most of MLB was back at that time.

Plenty of cheaters in the Hall....Cobb, Perry, Ford, Brett, etc

Ruth is the all time leader in both slugging and OPS. Record book says Bonds is the all time HR leader.

None of Bonds stats should mean a thing to anyone. He was a POS Cheater. Aaron is the All Time HR Leader.

Ruth was very good against his peers of the day, but no way the best of all time at anything.

Dont get me wrong. I love your list. Big Rose fan and he's one of the best. I just dont see how you can leave out Ruth? He put out monster numbers and all the historians have him at either #1 or #2 greatest player of all time. As for Bonds, he won three MVP's before steroids. And was on a level playing field when he got big.

    Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Mine would probably look like this:

    Ruth
    Mantle
    Williams
    Walter Johnson

Possibly swap in Barry Bonds or Mike Trout (in a few years) for Williams.

    Ty Cobb
    G.H. Babe Ruth
    Jackie Robinson
    Ken Griffey, Jr.

I wanted my Mount Rushmore to meet certain criteria: I wanted to have four different caps (4 Yankees crossed my mind immediately 😂), cover a large part of the games history and feature stars of different eras.

Honorable Mention: Willie Mays, Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle

I like your list but would replace Cy Young with Walter Johnson.

Like your HM list as well, maybe add Jimmy Foxx and Rogers Hornsby.

Johnson was my HM pitcher that I forgot to include.
I do believe that a more modern day player should be included also. Probably Griffey Jr.

then how do you leave off Cy Young who won 511 games? that's almost 100 more than Johnson.

I’m going with Cobb, Ruth, Mays and Ted Williams.

It might be fun to do a Mt Rushmore of players one actually saw play in their prime

These aren't the four greatest players ever, but they are the players I would choose to represent baseball.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

Interesting discussions here. With as many dominant pitchers as there have been over the years, it is tough to reserve space for someone who only plays 1/4 or 1/5 of the games in a season. A Mt. Rushmore is also tough because it has no real definition. Four best overall players? Four players with greatest influence? Four players with greatest offensive statistics?

I don't follow baseball as closely as I used to, but I am thinking that in a few years we might say...

    Babe Ruth
    Jackie Robinson
    Willie Mays
    Mike Trout

Edited to add Rickey Henderson as one of my alternates.

    Ty Cobb
    Cy Young
    Babe Ruth
    Willie Mays

Previous transactions: Wondercoin, goldman86, dmarks, Type2
