I was there not so long ago - colon cancer from ulcerative colitis, three surgeries, six hospitalizations, ng tubes, drains, worry about cancer coming back, truly miserable days, and losing interest in many things. Three years later, I can assure you things will get better. Like I have experienced, you will likely have a better perspecitve on life and what's really most important to you. While my card collecting slowed a bit during this period, it is in my DNA and probably will never stop completely.
James,
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Like others have said you seem to have caught this early and you will win the day. I have followed your posts well before I even became a member here. I hope that you find some comfort again in collecting. In the toughest of times it has been a great reprieve for me. Thoughts are with you.

Conundrum - Loving my unopened baseball card collection....but really like ripping too
Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes. I have been out of the hospital a little over a week now. I am still having pains from the surgery and moving slowly but I'm not having to take any pain meds. I am sleeping a good bit more than I normally do. My hemoglobin being very low is the reason my doctor made me go to the hospital when I did. I think it may still be low. I have a doctor's appointment the first part of next week. They will check my hemoglobin then.
I had been thinking about my card collecting future a few months before I went into the hospital. I don't think I have bought more than 5 or 6 cards since the first of the year. If I do start selling my collection, there are a couple sets I will probably hang on to, 1954 Red Heart and 1964 Topps Stand-up. Although they don't become available very often, I will probably continue to upgrade both of these sets.
Sorry for the long post. Thank you all again. James

Be well, better days are ahead.
