I heard it might grade higher..... either upper AU or lower MS. Def cool coin either way
Looks damaged to me, but think we need better pictures. I’d say XF details
Thanks & Yes I will try to get better photos. Not damaged I couldn't see how the coin of this low mintage / known remaining total supply wouldn't have pretty high value. I've seen MS-63's newer coins than this look even worse than this coin does. Probably needs better photo
Looks to already be in a PCGS holder?
I say XF also

It was sitting in a broken case when I saw the photo
Nope, not a chance. The dig at the nose, the ding on the obverse rim at 10:00 will make it a details coin and the wear would make it XF at best. It will not straight grade. The only benefit to submitting it is for authenticity.
Cheers

Is it in a PCGS slab? What does the slab label say?

It's hard to judge from the picture...I think if the luster is there it has enough meat to make an AU grade..probably 50-53.
The case may have been broken for a reason. I see a low AU that may detail. Edit, the color if accurate in the photo looks nice.

Looks like you need to shop for coins elsewhere.

There is a lot of chatter going on with this coin.
Rim ding is in a bad spot also.
I think due to the scarcity of this particular coin only around 2,000 known to exist left in the world get it authenticated & whatever it comes back at we'll take it!
Tough year/mm to find with any eye appeal. That is a problem coin and will not straight grade.
The coin was in a holder. What did it say?
Typical stuff: XF40 obverse, AU50 reverse. Don't like the rim bump.
XF-40 !!!
Good luck !!!
That will be a details coin... Rim ding and gouge at mouth/nose on obverse... a lot of chatter in fields and devices....Cheers, RickO
