he was hawking the 1900 P Double Eagles they had slabbed. I wonder how many European Hoard bags still exist. Eventually many of the dates from around then will be overloaded with slabbed specimens

$3200? You can buy MS 63 CACs for around $2000-$2200.
LOL. I saw him for the first time 2 weeks ago hawking the "rare" 1928 Saint Gaudens in NGC MS65 condition. He had dozens of them. And claiming how these were really the "last year" of Saints since the ones from 1929-1933 are basically unobtainable due to heavy melting and high prices. Pretty obscene comparing 1928 Saints to 1929-1932 Saints....like they have anything in common. Asking price was $3095 + S&H....well above the current market of around $2000-$2100. And that assumes none of them were spotted....which knocks at least another $50-$100 off.
Heritage and other retailers are probably happy to supply the guy dozens any time he wishes for $2200 each.
Did RCI give up on the modern GEM Cameo proof market? I recall those full Coin World page ads of 10-20 yrs ago.
But the real question is: how much did he pay for that shirt??

You can still buy one of a kind jaw dropping cameo proofs from Rick at R & I coins. Occasionally I feel the need for finer known pieces and wouldn't hesitate to look to him for that kind of material.

I've watched the guy for years. Never bought anything of major note from him (other than a slabbed 64 accent hair for a slight premium), but he does take time to tell a lot of history and factoids of various mintages and issues so I'd offer that we give him a little break for making a buck. The TV guys are all overpriced, but they are out there advertising and trying to recruit tomorrows collectors.
Oh, and no comment from here on the shirt!! I definitely would hate to have my wardrobe submitted for grading...LOL.
I have watched briefly a few times. Can't imagine purchasing from him. I think his biggest talent is twisting population reports until a common coin becomes unbelievably rare. Not sure he is doing anything for the hobby as to recruiting new collectors. I believe once a newby realizes they have been overcharged (the kindest term I could arrive at) my fear is it might just turn a person off to the entire hobby.
Fair points No Headlights...but, if you like cars, one slightly shady car dealer won't turn you off to cars, just make you leary of who you buy them from...no? Likewise watching Mecum auctions rave on and on about that 1970-1/2 Trans AM in all original condition that sells for $100,000 doesn't hurt anyone.
He does rave on about POP reports though...lol

Have been watching these shows for years just for the entertainment. My local cable company runs these shows all the time. Ive been wanting to call for years just for the humor.
Even better are the ones selling "rare Gov't silver dollars . Notice Gov't not Government. Many get fooled.
Other than as bullion, coins that can be mass marketed in that way don’t interest me much as they just aren’t scarce enough.
