Does this quarter have a mint error?

I found this West Point quarter with a large gash in the back. It looks like the design was stamped over the gash because I can see the image lines clearly in the mark. Is it a mint error? It is hard to see in the image but the mark is across the right side.

FWIW, in general, you should also the other side to help analyze what is going on.
Looks like it.
Looks like a struck through to me also. Nice find.
Nice find.
Yes.
@BullyHunter69....Welcome aboard....Nice find... it is called a 'struck through'... because something got between the planchet and the die at striking and left that impression. Sometimes, the material is retained, but usually not. Cheers, RickO
Yup, strike thru, the sheer pressure vaporized many things. Nice find. The hunt continues. Peace Roy
