Just completed my Gobrecht Redbook set with the addition of this J-60. The obverse toning is much subtler in hand than the image. Edited to add a shout out to Harry Laibstain ...... Great dealer to work with.
Boiler - that coin and your set deserve a dedicated thread! Would love to learn more about this set and your thoughts on building it!

New acquisition in the never ending CC Morgan Registry upgrade parade. Had to swallow hard on this one. This is thin air territory for me.
Special thanks to Chris and Brian at Northeast:
ya but at the $5k elevation level, you chose a very popular and great looking coin even for a 62!

Thanks @LanceNewmanOCC - could not be happier with this coin now that it is in hand. One of the best 62's I've seen.
I've always had an attraction to wanting this type. Probably because Columbus is just one of several historical figures that boosted my love for history growing up.
Finally won one of these at a great price. Plus I always like this look on silver.
A cool presidential numismatic artifact. President Eisenhower appreciation medal - 1960 Summer White House (Newport, R.I.) designed by Frank Gasparro and struck at the US Mint in Philadelphia.
Here are a few I thought worth sharing. Purchased others but were more common, and didn't have much to speak yet. Coins are no different than a fine wine...they get better with age.
Plugging away at the early chocolate.
Here's an ACG that I bought from estate of a deceased collector who was a member of our coin club. I'm more in the VF-35 on this one. There is detail on Liberty's dress yet I don't see a solid XF.
These raw's were bought from same estate for Dansco album. They are upgrades. The 1908-s is at XF-45 to AU-50 in my book. The 1864-L had some minor refurbishing some time in past. I put a little forehead grease on this one to tone out over time, and bring the balance back.
Okay, switching gears from raw to PL. I have a 1949-S Franklin in PL. Was happy to land this 1959 PL.
This was a colorful buff for my slab set. Clash marks above nose on obverse.
islemangu,
The true view image on the PCGS website is superior to the somewhat blurry image above.
What's the story of this issue? I'm sure it has an interesting one.
A somewhat recent coin. Been buying foreign stuff so this will have to do. It’s an ICG MS66+. Does it look like something I should crack and have it regraded?

In my experience, it takes something special, like beautiful toning, to get PCGS to grade at the 66+ level.
I'm on the fence about this one. Close to pulling the trigger (if someone else doesn't come along a sweep it out from under me).
Pat,
Nice OLD NGC holder - nail it!! I mean green bean and all - If the gold logo was inside the holder that would be better, but still looks like a solid coin.

I have to shake my head when I see you guys praising a coin like this. It's ugly as hell. My first thought was that it was improperly rinsed after being dipped and that it later turned in the holder. I'm surprised that CAC blessed it. This is a perfect example of why I don't trust CAC stickered coins.

Im really shocked that got a sticker. Another reason why I cant figure John out ive sent out coins that looked twice as better didn't get a bean. That peace dollar looks like its been in a fire and in a war would never praise a coin like that IDC what holder its in...

Guys relax, you know this likely never looked as it does NOW, when it got beaned right?

Just so you don't think I am totally off my rocker, I am compiling a collection of problem free PCGS/NGC ultra UGLY Peace dollars. I mean, the truly hideous ones. Again, they can't be problem coins in problem holders. Coins that straight grade yet have terrible eye-bleach appeal. I think this one fits that category, or- at least I hope so.

NEWP on eBay and I very seldom buy on eBay, but the experience was quite good and I must give kudos to hykyrone3. Anyway here ‘tis.
This is definitely a “buy the coin, not the holder” coin.

@marcmoish Got a CAC too?
LOL yes, it says, think I'd leave an important detail like that out?
Pre-Ordered from BOLD. The Fafnir Dragon. I worked for Fafnir Bearings in the 80's and 90's so had to get some for my old co-workers:
I am going to start a thread for this piece, but you (may) have seen it first here.

Got this one in yesterday. The D mint mark isn't visible in this photo, but under the scope I can make it out. The light angle has to be just right.

Just got this one today. I love the blue!
I've been working on a Lincoln set in MS64 BN. This 1914-D I picked up recently, that I like:
And another. I love brown Lincolns, way more than red ones.

Sorry about that, I’m not up to speed with good TrueView linkage post. It’s a solid 44-S MS65 half from airplanenut’s recent ebay
Bought this today.
I meant what's the story of it's production, by the US Mint.
Here you go:
Picked these up at the coin shop today! Canada large cents. I got a deal so prices aren’t quite accurate.
Now to find an album!
Collector of randomness. Photographer at PCGS. Lover of Harry Potter.
US territory then, and the US Mint produced their coins even while they were occupied by Japan. Thumbing our noses at Japan during the war.
Nice frosty cameo merc.
Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.
