Injured? Seems odd that if his knee was healthy, why not give him the ball?

Huge miscalculation to tear up his contract to give him that huge new contract.

Gurley looked ok to me last year, I thought they held him back but maybe he was still hurting from 2018

  • JoeBanzaiJoeBanzai Posts: 11,760 ✭✭✭✭✭

His numbers say he got 3 less carries per game and averaged 1 yard per carry less. Also had a 3 yard per catch drop.

He got the ball a little less and performed quite a bit worse, but still, if his knee was fine, why cut him?

I certainly don't understand getting rid of Gurley.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,518 ✭✭✭✭✭

It has to be a money/Value thing, they see guys like Ekeler come out of nowhere and out perform these huge contract guys and causes these cuts

  • DIMEMANDIMEMAN Posts: 22,403 ✭✭✭✭✭

They already had a guy that could run thru a brick wall. Now they have 2 good RB's that can split the carries and be stronger. Their running game should be great this year!

  • JoeBanzaiJoeBanzai Posts: 11,760 ✭✭✭✭✭

Vikings sign DT Michael Pierce. Looks like a good move wit the departure of Linval Joseph. Hope we can get Everson Griffen back.

We need at least one cornerback!

With the addition of Gurley, they'll be no excuses for the Falcons not to make the playoffs. Oh, wait a minute, that's right, the Bucs are in the same division and they have Brady now. I'm sorry my little Atlanta hatchlings, you'll have to wait until Brady officially retires before you can make the playoffs. It never fails, Atlanta may look like Falcons, but trust me, they'll turn out to be something else...

Who Freeman? He is “OK” I think Tevin Coleman was the better back and he is now in SF

    Buffalo Bills free agent signings
    Stefon Diggs, Wide receiver
    Vernon Butler, defensive tackle.
    Mario Addison, defensive end.
    Quinton Jefferson, defensive tackle.
    A.J. Klein, linebacker

Stefon Diggs gets the headlines. A true #1 for Josh Allen but I’m as excited about Mario Addison.
The Bills had the #2 and #3 defense the last 2 years. Addison had 40 sacks the last 4 years.
They’ve lost a few defensive players for retirement and free agency and Beane and the defense has actually improved.
With #12 no longer in the AFC east and the Jets and Dolphins a few years away from truly being playoff competitive Buffalo has its first real shot at a first round bye.
Granted their schedule isn’t the powder puff it was last year but if they add a true #1 RB to compliment Devin Singletary 11 wins is not out of the question. If Josh Allen takes even a baby step forward no one will look forward to playing Buffalo next year.

Hopkins and Cooks make close to the same amount of money but their production isn't anywhere close to being the same.
Doing the rough math here,Houston gave up Hopkins & their 2020 4th rounder for Cooks,David Johnson, fourth round picks in both the 2021 & 2022 drafts and had their 2020 2nd round pick jump from #57 to #40.

sorry to quote you again, but i know you dig trades, draft picks & financial ramifications

at its face, everyone knows about them parting ways with Hopkins. but let's delve deeper to get an even better understanding of just how clueless B O'B is.....

he decided to teach D-Hop a lesson because he was jonesing for a contract extension too early. so off to AZ he goes for an on-the-brink-of-being-washed-up David Johnson, who will be guaranteed a minimum of $12.3 mil over the next two years. and they did this when there was no market for Todd Gurley, who may be slowing down himself but has been a much more productive player.

signed Randall Cobb to a three-year deal, $27 mil deal with $18 mil guaranteed.

    Randall Cobb.

    $18 million dollars.

    guaranteed.

in terms of picks, for this to make sense one has to believe that the difference between having Cobb & Cooks on your roster as opposed to Hopkins & Stills is less than what the team needed to do to make that change, right? does sending the 57th and 131st picks for the 40th & two fourth-rounders in '21 & '22 scream that?

dead serious about this -- Bill O'Brien needs to issue a public mea culpa admitting that he's trying to turn his team into the NFL's version of the New York Knicks, followed by a rapid COVID-19 test

edit: you jumped on it while i was typing lol

Cooks is a very gifted receiver.

Cooks is one head hit away from never playing again. He's had 3 concussions in the last 2 seasons. Guys got a eggshell skull.

Rams didn't want to be last man standing when the music stops. Which I predict will be this season.

So far, it looks like it will go on as scheduled. I am curious to see what the Vikings are going to do with the extra picks.

    They lost 4 DB's and still don't have a very good O-Line.

I have never been so angry at a guy who just got "killed" on the field like that. What was he thinking. Was he already concussed before this play? Edit to add: I forgot - was there no flag?

Just checked, no flag - but supposedly it was a clean hit. I don't know. Either way, I was so upset with him. We needed him. He is a very good receiver, but I never felt like he was trustworthy - and that proved it. He has gone from team to team - must be a reason. Hope he is okay after he retires. He has taken some hits.

That stat does mean something, it's a pretty good stat. Like other statistics, you need to look at more than one.

Winston throws too many interceptions, so yes, I would take Dak.

Prescott looks a bit better, but not a whole lot better. He had a great rookie year, dropped off a bit and then came up again. Two time All Pro. Prescott runs a lot, better hope he doesn't get hurt running the ball.

    Meh.

Shouldn't Dak be better with that offensive line? He's also got an "all world" running back, doesn't he? Oh wait, two awfully good receivers too. Cooper is All Pro every year and Gallup led the league in yards per catch last year.

Dallas was #1 in yards gained last year, but #6 in points scored. That shows a lack of ability to "finish".....blame has to go to the QB. I know you are going to blame the coach here, so we will see what happens this year.

Bringing a third guy in, the Vikings Kirk Cousins. Does some things better than Prescott, but less mobile. Operates behind a sub par O-Line.

They seem to be a average/above average guys.

None of them are in the Brady, Brees, Rogers, Wilson category. Mahomes looks awesome, as does Lamar Jackson.

Yes Diggs is supposed to be a good one with size and the ability to catch the ball as a receiver he once was. We will probably disagree here, but I think we had the players to have a good defense last year. I blame the DC a lot and of course we lost the MLB for some of the season last year. We will see.

Larry Warford! EXACTLY what the Vikings need. A guard who can pass block and help create a pocket for Cousins.

I know he'll be expensive, but he is a proven all pro player, in or near his prime.

Warford is going to Dallas! :oB)

Looks like Dallas is a bit over the cap? According to spotrac they are 10 million over. The Vikings are 500k over.

In looking at information on the cap, it gets very confusing.

Well if there was no cap then the big market teams would go New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox, I think the cap is good

you are embarrassing dime. Go look at the numbers and get back to us.

The dallas cowboys have the lowest actually payroll of any team in the league. The most or second most valuable sports team in the world has the lowest payroll in the NFL and hasn't won in decades.

Not the cap , the cap is fake , I'm talking real spending. Anyone can put 50 million on the cap to max it out then cut 48 million a day later. I'm talking checks written and cashed Dallas is the lowest of the low

Hey Bronc........don't get your shorts in a wad. I said I hate the cap...and do.....I don't know who has what and don't care! All I know is Dallas has had to let players go FA to stay under the cap!

the cap is not payroll! They put big fancy amounts in the cap that never get paid out.

THE LOWEST ACTUAL PAYROLL IN THE NFL! the cap is not stopping dallas from spending a penny.

Everyone bitched out the Patriots and Bill B for not paying people but they actually won 6 super bowls on the cheap . Dallas doesn't spend and they cant win a single playoff game :D

Something doesn't wash here. Joe said they are 10M over the cap. Plus they had to let several really good players go to FA this year to stay under the cap!
