Gorgeous coin! the scratch is a shame weather it graded or not.
It looks like a details-grade to me.

Don't want your vote on the record?
My opinion is on the record. I didn’t think to vote.

I would say a details grade... Too bad... It is, however, gold, so I like it...
Gold is my personal weakness...Cheers, RickO

Often MS60 coins are unc. but with a multitude of issues, bag marks, light scratches, etc..
Scratches are not defined in the ANA grading standards.

The coin is not for me and I'd detail it; however since I've seen much worse straight graded in major TPGS slabs, it will probably be straight graded if sent in.
Edit: I see it is slabbed already. I'll guess MS-62 + or MS-63.
I'm shocked someone has not asked to see the coin's reverse and edge yet...LOL
Why are you shocked? The question was whether the coin was "MS grade or Details Scratch?" Do we really need a reverse image to answer that?

To bad. That is a nice coin
I agree. Of course we don't!
IT'S A JOKE! If you follow the questions from newbies addressed to me and others when we post something you would understand. Example: I post the obverse of a $3 coin with a copper spot and ask what caused the spot. The obverse image is all that is needed yet several members ask to see the coin's edge and reverse. Head smack!
Perhaps, after reading my sarcastic replies to those folks, it has finally sunk in. In that case, I'm shocked. I will be shocked even more if one of the jokers on CU does not post that NOW they need to see the reverse and edge of the OP's coin.
I will say Details - Scratched, UNLESS it’s a branch mint or Civil War era date, which I’m of the opinion that if it’s a rare(er) issue, it’ll then be straight-graded, given the TPS’ track record. Either way, that coin should be in a details holder. Aside from the scratch, it’s a gorgeous coin.
I will say "Nay" to the snobbery, and say it's a nice enough coin for a straight grade....60 or 61.
It's not branch mint
It doesn't matter what the label says. Unless that scratch is less prominent in hand than in the photo it belongs in a details holder.
However it is a nice coin,
AFAIK...TPGS's do not "Detail"coins that are: nice or gorgeous.
Can't a details coin STILL be nice?
I have seen some AMAZING details coins. That said, I have never, nor ever will, buy one 😉

In case you were even a little bit serious with the “snobbery” comment - however nice looking the coin might otherwise be, the mark is very prominent and distracting, as well as something that doesn’t typically occur during normal handling. Opinions that the coin should have a details-grade have nothing to do with snobbery.

This is not my coin and I have not seen it in hand. BUT I own some classic gold that got the details finger for what I am quite confident had a less distracting mark than this example. Thanks all for voting. Here you go: Even Insider2 was too low.
Net 64 does seem a bit high, but on the other hand, that's not a 50-point scratch either, is it?

I am totally shocked. Well, a series I truly know nothing about. Apparently especially grading.

I wanna see that coin in hand! The slab pic almost and maybe makes it look like a scratch on the slab!
I voted Details because of a coin that I recently sent for grading. It was also gold and overall, a nicer than average coin. But it did have a mark similar to the op coin. My coin, however had a much thinner hairline scratch that could only be seen when you turned it at a sharp angle under a bright light. I have to assume, since the op coin has a scratch that is much more prominent than my coin, it is not going to straight grade. At least if the same graders see it and it's before their morning coffee.
It makes me wonder though. If these coins are details grade then how did all of those Carson City Morgan Dollars straight grade in MS 60 to 62 holders?
This is an 1878 CC in a straight graded 62 holder:

That would explain a lot!

I don't think it's a slab scratch. But I'll bet the lighting angle made it look worse than it is.

Amazing
Minor consolation that the gash is not on her face. Otherwise a very nice coin. Peace Roy

I totally agree with the grade, a very pretty coin that does not deserve the scarlet letter of a details grade.
