That's the box with 1 purple refractor/chrome to a pack. Topps has done it last several years.

Every pack in the box contains a special purple chrome refractor, a 'hot box' exclusive.

Opened my first box this afternoon. Box topper was a 1971 Dave Nelson in maybe EX-MT, stamped with the gold foil 50th anniversary stamp. My main hits were a Charlie Morton jersey relic and a Machado Action variation. Not much luck. I have 2 more boxes in hand, but will likely wait to rip those over the weekend.

I'm glad that they seem to have mixed in quite a few more action shots in the regular set, and I do like the nod to the Munson card, as Sanchez is card #5 in the set, with a play at the plate. Only thing missing is the rookie cup.

Holy cow! I am waiting on a case from DAC but purchased a half case, plus 18 loose packs, from my local store. Still working through the half case. In the midst of opening a box today I just pulled this out of the same pack:

I am stoked! One of the best packs I have ever had!!!!

    On to more Heritage!

    Matt

    EDIT TO ADD--

Just finished this box. It also gave me a silver team name Acuna and my first white back. Only if they were all this good!

    Great autos Matt !

The better hits from the last 2 boxes. Lindor & Hoerner are action variations. From 6 boxes -2 autos, 4 relics, 4 actions, 2 silver team names, 2 white border, 1 French variation, 1 chrome. 1 refractor. Not too bad but not autos like Matt's.

So I just finished off a half case plus 18 loose packs from that same case. I pulled 54 different short prints and no duplicates. Good sign to suggest perhaps you can come pretty close to getting a fully set of short prints per case (should get 96). I pulled six clubhouse collection relics, two autos, one mini and one white border. An action short print seemed to be seeded one per box. Only a total of four chrome cards were pulled. Topper wise out of the six sealed boxes, I got two 71 buybacks, two jumbos, and two greatest moments. By that math I am assuming you get four of each per case (I am only really interested in the greatest moments cards; love those). I also got the usual hodge podge of the lower end inserts.

My case should be here tomorrow. I feel pretty good about getting a base set done with short prints.

I went ahead and ripped my last 2 boxes. Nothing good to speak of. Got a Braun chrome, Jansen O-Pee-Chee back, and a white border Bogaerts. My action variations were Lindor and Hoerner. My box toppers were a Super Judge and a Greatest Moments Betts. Pulled a jersey relic of Guerrero and Kershaw. Kind of bummed on the results of my 3 boxes total.

I don't know how any reasonable person would call this "action", but it's designated as such.

7th & 8th boxes of the case, call it the Harper boxes. The super is Bellinger, Torres & Harper chromes which IMO are the best looking chromes yet. Tatis Jr. & Harper actions then Harper & Verlander relics. The Soto Great Moments and Chapman white border are the other 2.

    Sweet blasters for sure Dan.

There's a member here that was always looking for Harrelson heritage stuff. If I remember the story right he was related to him, possibly his grandson.

Edited to add: I just remembered it was Dick Ellsworth's grandson looking for Ellsworth heritage cards, not Harrelson.

Is ParkerJ on here anymore? I see his Heritage posts on blowout and wanted to get a hold of him about buying a set.

Jim Parker is breaking 50 cases this year. He did 18 last year, but from 18 to 50 is quite a leap. Best of luck to him on his huge undertaking.

He usually has a thread on blowout detailing his hits, but I don't see that this year.

So I checked out a Walmart this morning for Heritage. I bought 13 blaster boxes as they had them mispriced at $14.95 each. Too good to pass up on all of them. Add this to the 7 boxes I have already opened plus another case on the way today, and I am totally mad. I was actually afraid with this happening as 71 is one of my all time favorite designs. I do love this year's product. I am just hoping to get enough hits to wash some of my investment away!

    Matt

    EDIT TO ADD RESULTS--

    35 SPS
Two Clubhouse Collection (McNeil & Hoskins)
Auto-- Ty Cline (actually cool as the Ty Cline '71 was the first 71 I hit a 9 on in grading)
    13 chrome
    Carlos Carrasco French Back

Assortment of base inserts (interestingly only three Then and Now cards).

Not a world beater result but it will further along my set. I just need to sort through the base this weekend after I finish ripping. Still fun!

I sent you a PM earlier today before I hit Wal-Mart. As you can see, it's going to take me a bit to get everything sorted. As far as Red Sox related, I've also pulled a Carlton Fisk flashback and a J. D. Martinez purple refractor. Got a Mike Yastrzemski purple refractor, too, if that interests you. They'll all go into your pile.

My 6 blasters were decent. I always figure 2.5 SPs per blaster since some have 2 and some have 3. I ended up with 17 SPs which was nice. Also got 2 Clubhouse (Albies and Longoria). I did hit a hot box where the Purple chromes had some nice names (Tatis Jr., Guerrero Jr., Soto, Pujols).

Trying not to buy anymore full price retail while waiting for my retail case(s).

This thread is awesome each year. I dont get Heritage product until later in the year and rarely find the time to ever sort through what I rip due to activities/coaching with my kids.

What is missing from the excitement of this banner year is mike, who is always in the thick of it and making this thread always top notch. Hope he is well.

Love all the ripping guys, keep the results coming! I may just hit up Walmart when I get off the bus back in N.J. in about an hour. It’s within sight line to where my car is parked!

Are there a good amount of non-SP/SSP action cards?
71 was the 1st set with action base cards. The posed photos were probably around 50/50 Shea/Yankee Stadium vs spring training. And the spring training photos at least varied the background. Visually, the variety throughout the set was very appealing.
The current posed photos are pretty much all the same, with the background mostly sky. There fairly monotonous and boring to look at.

Just opened my annual box. I got:

    Bo Bichette relic (blue jersey)
    Keston Hiura white border
    Ronald Acuna in-action
Pete Alonso '71 super box topper

Nothing earth shattering. I didn't get a chrome or an OPC back. I didn't look to see if those typically fall one per box.

Just throwing this out there for anyone that might be looking for a good price on a retail case. I'm picking up a blaster case and a retail case on Tuesday or Wednesday, but I did not know that this years blaster case has 40 boxes in it (they've always had 16), so now I really don't want both.

I'm going to keep the blaster case, but since he ordered both for me, like I asked him to, I don't want to tell him no on the retail case and stick him with it, possibly damaging a good working relationship.

The retail case of heritage has 8 boxes with 24 packs in each box and 9 cards in each pack. There are obviously hits in retail, I just don't think they are guaranteed per box like in hobby. These look to be selling on eBay anywhere from $500 to $575 (most likely plus tax), but if someone here was interested I could send it to them for only $470 (net to me) plus whatever the actual shipping which is probably around $15. If it's over $15 I'll just cover it.

Whoever wants it can just let me know here in the thread.

    Thanks, Nick

    Edited to lower the price.

    Nick,

To me blasters ARE retail. Not seeing how 24 pack boxes are that. I could have no clue what I’m talking about but I’ve never seen retail boxes with 24 packs. Retail to me is Walmart and Target stuff...

Yes, they're all retail Dan, but the 24 pack boxes (that walmart used to have before the gravity feed packs) are made to mimic the hobby boxes (24 packs with 9 cards per) except there is no guaranteed hit, no cut signature possibilities, and different odds on some stuff. I'm 99% sure that short prints come out the same at 8 per box.

Edited to add: They're known industry-wide as retail so that no one thinks they are hobby boxes.

Anyone know if the Hangers are worth getting compared to a Blaster?

Mike is on a break. He was very well the last time I corresponded with him but he seemed burned out a bit and was looking forward to stepping away.

That’s really great to hear. I thought that this thread might pull him back into the mix. But I can absolutely see where the hobby can sometimes take up more of ones time than it should. Totally been there.

I have always just counted the 24ct retail boxes as 3 Blasters. Do the math from there. 8 24ct = 24 Blasters = 1.5 traditional blaster cases.

I’m hoping the hobby cases dip like they have past 2 yrs. if they do I will grab one. Have been much more into the HHN for past 2y. Am still sitting on several loose hobby boxes and 4-5 blaster cases from each 2018 & 2019. Going to need to sell the2018 soon as I won’t get to opening them and the redemptions expire this summer.
