It looks like fun. Some of the Trade Dollars may disappoint. It is also odd just how many CC coins are in this group. This group is likely in the top fifty percent of what "just turns up".

Looks like a lot of fun. Some nice looking coins in that mix. Make sure the trade dollars are legit. I have seen a lot of fakes with those.

I would make inventory list then cost out at blue book. From there decide what to offer if it’s something you want. It may help to call in an experienced partner.

Beware a lot of these types of collections have fakes / problem coins.

Whatever you don’t want over pay.

Friend in coin club will inventory, cost out at blue book (if Uncs / MS60), then get bottom line. Problem / questionable coins valued at zero. Then multiply times a hedge (risk) factor say 60-80 pct get his final offer. Very few of coins in these justify slab cost so lots of raw coins for his collector coin binder pages.

I would ignore any price on holder. I would list it, grade them, cost out at blue book the Calc offer I am comfy with. If they don’t like my offer they can shop it around.

Some cc prices (on the flip) seem high and some reasonable. Probably retail prices when he bought them? I would be suspect as well on the Trade dollars and certainly would take ALL coin out of the flips to examine and weigh. A two headed Merc? $19 for a well worn Columbia half? But, $225 for an 85cc might be okay if not damaged, etc.

    fun group to go through.

Those retail prices could be from 89 before the crash. One needs to ignore them and do his own grading / calc to arrive at offer.

It takes somebody competent handle this project who knows how grade / price coins to handle something like that. I have on many occasions and it can take time. I try to get a quick, accurate inventory list then cost it out at home. Knowing what it melts for important too.

Pricing this group of coins will be time consuming. Are you sure he wants to sell them rather than getting a free appraisal?

Wow... a lot of 'stuff' and a lot of what looks like 'good stuff'. Huge project there... The slabbed coins will be easy... but the bulk of the collection is 'hands and eyes' work...This is not a one hour quick appraisal...Cheers, RickO

Trades are real, looks like a coin collection bought out a few B&Ms and mall stores over the 70s-90s.
Mostly lower grade the kind of set out of coin world bought on price. That said he knew sort of what he was looking at and none look cleaned. I would say top 5% of coin collections not 50%

The Morgan CC have good looks to them too. HA or GC would have good reference info/prices for slabbed versions of those dollars, and my guess is that for the common date the prices are actually lower than what is listed on the flip. The 85 CC was a tough coin for me to find in f-VF, and likely has good value.

A disorganized mess. If he wants you to dispose of it for him, stay away. It will just drain your time unless he offers you a good percentage of the realization. (I fell into this trap back in 2006-7 ... never again. The friend's wife was angry that he gave me 10% of the proceeds. She thought I should have done it for free. (10% was far too low for the amount of work involved.)

The gold coins in your lot will be an easy sell as will the bullion related stuff such as common date Morgans. The other numismatic coins will be a pain to sell.

Even if you had to sell it piece by piece, it is not bad at 10%. A lot of those coins are at least $100, $10 to run an eBay auction is pretty solid in my book. Assuming you have it together and go in with a game plan, thats $10+ a listing, with 5-7 minutes tops to create a listing from start to finish with templates.

I bought some of it. Most of the cc Morgan’s and the US gold. I paid (with the help of my dad) what we both agreed was a fair price for both of us. Any specific coins you guys wanna see?

Plus most of what I bought will be for sale soon on the BST. If you wanna claim something first PM me with an offer.
