Hello, everyone and thanks for your forum, I was recently in a flea market, and I bought a coin, I really don't know much about this. I was impressed that it was 1800. And for the price I bought it, I don't think it's authentic that you believe?

Welcome. Looks like a fake to me (and not a good one).

Oh my. Hope you didn’t pay much.
That coin is a fake!
Fake... Does not come close to passing the straight face test

A lot more than half a bubble off plumb.
I do not think that coin was ever close to a US MINT.
A real one to compare. to
Total fake & not even a silver one.
A poorly executed fake. Typical of the junk coming out of China these days.

@piposarcade welcome to CU. If you are serious about coin collecting then wasting money on fakes is counterproductive. Counterfeits are a plague on the land. I see and say no to raw fakes all the time. That's what I can do on the street level. Don't support people who sell this junk. Peace Roy

A very poor quality fake. Please buy a copy of the Red Book - A Guide Book of United States Coins, 73rd edition, 2020 and read it from cover to cover.
Forget about buying coins at flea markets.
Now that coin I would use for a fantasy date overstrike.
100% fake!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
This is the same maker just a different date. $1.50 each in quantity of ten or more.

fake as the news
I don’t know the size of the counterfeit coin dated 1800 in the first post, but no genuine 1800 half dollars were made. So, while genuine, the coin you posted is presumably of a different denomination than the one in the first post.

I have a few of these types of fakes that I keep as reference pieces.

@piposarcade ....Welcome aboard.... sorry you got a fake, but flea market coins should always be considered questionable....Many stories posted here over the years just like yours...Good luck in the future... Cheers, RickO
