Library Construction

I posted in another thread that I was constructing a library so I thought it post some photos occasionally as we progress the project.
My lake house was originally an older A Frame which was then made into a rectangle and renovated.
Here is the view of the main space from the hall
And a reading nook
And some Hugh walls for book shelves all around
This wall will be cut into a full window for a lake view

How exciting! Is this in Michigan?

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Yup, Portage

Beautiful view!
Very nice...and a beautiful lake view.....Lots of work, but rewarding when finished. Cheers, RickO
Very cool! Please make sure to post pictures once completed.

Nice work neighbor. Post completed photos and... yeah... nice move not downloading the ones with snow and ice.
Where bouts are you?

I know that lake.....

Go big. Don't scrimp! I did and I've always regretted it.
Small lake.... But big mountains. Hey, you can't have everything!
Not that close but still in the Mitten... Brighton. Lake view is still great even with the snow and ice.
I lived on a lake in Fenton MI for 25 years - moved to another lake in NC when I retired. Best thing about NC is that I leave my boat and dock in all year, worst thing about NC is not being able to go ice drinking - er, I mean ice fishing.
Lake living isn't for everyone, but our family really enjoys it.

I live on a lake in Missouri and haven't been on it in 25 years.
Nice view and a wonderful thing.
That looks like it's going to be awesome! Only thing it needs is a big fireplace to read and drink in front of
That looks amazing! Please share updated photos later.
Two nuggets I will add:
First, by coincidence, just yesterday I was telling my wife and oldest son that I have long dreamed of having a home with a library.
Second, a few months ago I was speaking with my mother, and we spoke about how great it is to be able to get to a point in life where you can be happy for others without feeling remorse towards yourself.
I know this is OT, but seeing the beautiful library you are building made me think of this conversation with my mother. It is important to have dreams, to celebrate the joys of your family and friends (forum friends included), and to count your blessings and appreciate all you have- instead of focusing on what you do not.
For example, I may not yet have my library, but my book collection is coming along slowly but surely.
Thanks for sharing this @Boosibri
Library work is underway though now stalled with the stay at home order. Should be done 2 weeks after the order is lifted. Diagonal wall on the right will become nearly a full window looking out to the lake. Reading nook shown in the second picture, about the size of a twin bed.

Hmm...The walls could make installing bookcases (and filling them with books that won't slide out) an interesting experience.

Ive kept all of the strange odds and angles to make the look eclectic. The unfinished slant on the right side of picture 2 is the original house roofline. Im building a built in bench there and the shelving laddering up the angle.

I have to admit I am a bit jealous that you are going to have a library, my books get moved around whenever my spouse 'redecorates'. Many are just in boxes now

We are having a baby in November so i've already heard some nonsense about this becoming the baby room.

Congrats (on the baby, not the potential misappropriation of the room)! The forum's first member of the Coronials.

Get some Dr. Seuss wallpaper and put it in front of the real books, so she'll think that's what it is. Lol.
The baby is pre-corona creation but only by about a month. 10 weeks in now to baby and 4 weeks to corona lock down.

Looking very nice! We're in the process of having a house built, should totally follow suit and have some bookcases installed.
Looks REALLY cool! I can't wait to see it finished!

Looking forward to pictures on completion. And to see who wins : baby room VS library
If the next pics have baby booties on the wall we will know the outcome.

Great view... Hardwood floors? You might gain traction with it being a library if it can serve as a collective room for most if not all of your interests.

Yep hardwood floors

Any Walleyes in the lake?
Nice looking place!

Looking great! Thank you for the updates @Boosibri and Felicidades on the pending rugrat!!!
Crappie and perch are delicious too! Good luck. I'm hoping our trip to Canada happens in August, but safety first.
Looks good buddy!

Congrats on the new family addition ... and maybe a library as well.
Add a diaper-genie to your 'library' and you'll get by! LOL
