Thanks @oih82w8, I hadn't seen this thread. Wow, those look like some wonderful wines, @nencoin /Tom I'd be interested to know if that Mercury wine is really good! And Mark @Justacommeman, that Bordeaux sounds amazing. And so does that Coravin and Quilceda Creek, and the Chateau La Tour too! If any of you are at the Long Beach show, be sure to stop by my table any time after 2pm and I'd be happy to share some wine with you. It won't quite be as top shelf as these, but it will be very "drinkable"!
“Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A familiar nose of pedigree, the wine opens with aromatics of ripe raspberry, blackcurrant, cigar box and a hint of fresh sandalwood shavings and Herbs de Provence—mysteriously intriguing at first but evolving into a thoroughbred with time and air. Dense and layered on the palate, an immediate note of mixed berry strudel topped with fresh cream, fresh black raspberry and soft tannins akin to baking chocolate transition to a finish of both nuance and concentration. Still young, the wine will continue to evolve gracefully while retaining its luscious quality and classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon nature.
How do they come up with this stuff? They could become a coin auction cataloger if their wine ventures don't work out...
Yeah....I don't understand the way aficionados describe wine.
I must not have the proper taste buds...it all tastes like horrific swill
to me....and the more expensive it is the more horrific it is.
FWIW, odd thoughts somewhat appropriate to this thread. You will not miss anything if you do not read further...
I can really appreciate a big Chateauneuf de Pape with an expertly-cooked quality steak and a loaded baked potato. But a really big Chateauneuf de Pape is often (usually) beyond my budget. Both the good bottles and the great bottles are expensive!
Other than that, my wine palate is for shit. I am quite happy with a pink Beringer or Franzia, poured over ice. In quantity. White Zinfandel is just fine, even if that makes me a barbarian.
But I mostly drink beer or ale, especially IPAs that are very hoppy.
I buy decent Mercury Dimes that are priced a little bit above melt. For stacking purposes. I cannot be influenced in most retail decisions by the offer of a common silver dime. Bonus silver dimes come from the Coinstar reject slot.
@nencoin....I will look for a bottle of Mercury Head Cabernet.... Cabernet is my favorite red wine...I like good red wines and have a taste for the quality wines. Used to follow the Wine Spectator for ratings and did acquire many of their top rated wines. Cheers, RickO

The girls LOVED that stuff! I had beer and they wanted the Strawberry Hill. **Youth is wasted on the young! ** Hmm................

Swiss Army knives have a cork screw. Most people don't know that. Anyway.......if you're ever driving down the road and the Little Lady tells you to pull over at the next off ramp for refreshments keep it in mind If you have a Swiss Army knife. Little Darling goes into the Quickie-Mart, Gas N ' Go....... Comes out with the houch. Now you're on your way..... Back on the road............Baby Doll peals off the aluminum foil top....... And discovers a....CORK!! She's freaked! What to do? That is when you calmly and oh so cool pull out your Swiss Army knife with the cork screw. She'll love you forever. That's just the way they are. Or... you move to New Zealand, where all of the wine bottles - even the expensive ones - have screw caps...
I often think of New Zealand. But not because of bottle caps. I saw the movie LORD of THE RINGS. It was filmed in New Zealand. I think. If I'm correct about that, New Zealand and California are the most beautiful places on Earth........Southern Utah and Northern Arizona come in second.

You're right there. One of my favourite places to bring visitors is to Edoras. Actually, the Rangitata valley. Spectacularly beautiful, even without Gandalf and company galloping by.
@Aotearoa ...I have been to New Zealand...spent about a month there...Actually, if I had remained in the Navy, and on the same ship, I would have visited more...since the ship made port there several times when on the Antarctic deployments..... However, my visit was as a civilian...went gold panning in the Shotover River...watched sunsets in Queenstown...and hiked to a glacier.... The people are really nice there. Cheers, RickO

If you are a wine drinker get yourself a Coravin. Game changer.

Boones Farm was the only wine I found papatable when I reached legal drinking age.

You brought back a memory of one Boones Farm night, except she didn't want the exit or the refreshments. Just the side of the busy highway and me. I think she liked living dangerously. Anyway, I needed to drink that flavor only once
