Saw these 25 1885-O’s in a custom holder with a hand written date from 55 years ago. Although extremely common they all had toned nicely so I bought and sent them off. Grades popped yesterday and I’m happy with them. Wanted to share

Surprisingly consistent appearances. What is the grade distribution?

18 64’s, 3 64+, 4 65’s. Very consistent across the board. The paper folder and plastic cover they were in was dated 1964 I can only assume they sat in there undisturbed for the last 50 plus years toning.

Was this a show or shop find? Looks like an old collection whose owner had a focus on this date/mm....maybe parental birth date or some such thing....Nice TruViews.....Was the price around melt? Cheers, RickO

Those toned Morgan's are real nice. I like them a lot.

It was from a small auction house that doesn't specialize in coins, part of an estate I believe. I paid higher than melt for them. The inscription with the date said 25 year Silver Anniversary 1964 so assuming a gift to their spouse. Should get a premium I believe due to the eye appeal for some of them.
